Opposition instructions. Keep it simple.
LB - show right foot
RB - show left foot
DM/CM - hard tackling
LW - show left foot
RW - Show right foot.
Playmaker - mark tight, hard tackle, press, show weaker foot.

One thing I have noticed is towards the end of matches 'calm down' seems to make the team more clinical and composed, even though their morale seems down.

A good tip I’ve found is to score more goals than your opponent. Hope this helps

Another problem players might experience is when the manager plays about with formations/tactics. First season as The Spartans FC in Scot Division 2 I went 4-4-2 and went the whole season unbeaten in the league won 22 and drew 14. Yeah I did a few saves before I played a crucial six pointer but still an impressive season I'm sure you'll all agree

However I'd thought I'd experiment in Scottish Division 1 and went -4-3-3 wide and my first 7 league games were 2 draws and 5 losses and I kept nearly the same players from the previous season . I then went back to 4-4-2 with limited success though I did win the last couple of games which means I'm 7th in a league of 10 but drawing away from the relegation zone, so I'm making an educated guess that if you want success find a formation that suits your players and most importantly stick with the formation and don't experiment at crucial points in the season

A comment to tip 1: If you use the Analysis button during the match, the can see the player's average positions. This lets you check if players are covering the areas you want them to. You can also see the opposition players positions as well.

I normally use berate if the team concedes a stupid goal that should have been stopped, calm down if we score a really early goal to keep their heads in the game

For OPI i make sure i have a coach who's tactical rating is as high as possible, generally not under 18 and have him automatically doing the instructions, this way the instructions will also automatically change throughout a game if he thinks they need to and its definitely been beneficial to me

A second comment: With opposition instructions, I always push the strikers on to their weaker foot. Don't use the "weaker foot" option, check the plyers attributes and then say Right or Left. Make sure you also do this during game with substitutes.

As a manager does your motivation attributes, or any other attributes for that matter, influence the effect of shouts at all? Same for Assistant Manager - if you use your assistant managers opposition instructions, if they have a better tatical knowledge, will their suggestions be better and more effective than an assistant manager with not as good attributes. If so, and you delegate some of these things, it would suggest having as good an assistant manager as possibe would be really important.

First thing I do, staff. Get the structure ready ! Replace all bad coaches and medical and scouts. Get a good staff on boars and make sure they are doing the right things

Setup a scouting network and focus on young players with potential

I signed 20 players for free with Salford for my under 18s and 21s

I have immediately got some to start in my senior team

Best place to look is when big clubs let players leave

I got an 18 year old wonderkid from arsenal on a free instant started

Put your older and redundant players on transfer marked

Identify weaknesses and focus on squad depth before quality players

I did this with salford and in my second season I am unbeaten 1st in the log after 14 games !

My oldest player is 27

Youngest average age in league

Heck ! I went far in cafabia cup losing to man city in the final 2 1

With SALFORD

I am still in the same league as 1st season with my original and old players stayed up in 6th place and won no trophies

Second season I have been offered a new contract
A ratings with fans and board

Injuries hit me hard but I have good depth with under 21 and 18 squads to step up

I had the youngest player scoring at age 16

My 1 striker is 17 regular starter

I have 4 players 19 year old starting almost every game

Do individual training on decisions and positioning

Only sign players with good postioning compusure and decisions

The best way I found to win. Is to go into the editor and change all your players attributes to 20

There's interesting remark about 'praise' shout - for my team negative reaction is pretty rare, players would rather be complacent, than demotivated.

Opposition instructions is so important but don't set it at the start of the match and leave it. The AI will change its tactics and roles, this will mean your OI's will not work unless you adjust them accordingly.

I do not have some of the options like he listed above (i.e., Team Meetings, Individual Player Dicussions), does it depend on my overall reputation/the club rating/UI change due to update? (Kinda new to the FM)

Jake, help me out here mate, I have Tino Livramento in my squad, playing as a RWB, and he keeps saying he's not happy because he isn't playing in his preferred position, which is RB with a complete wing back roll. The thing is, I don't have RB in my tactics, I have everything that RB, so can you tell me the perfect role for Livramento please? Thanks in advance.
