This is how you can filter water in a survival or disaster situation using rocks, sand and charcoal.

If you can find a clear plastic bag, you can put it over a leafy tree branch and gently close the neck of the bag.

After a few hours, you will see that water is accumulating in the bag, directly from the tree by process of respiration.

It is clean water, you can drink it.

The bottle with the rocks and pebbles will do nothing, so you're better off with two bottles of fine sand and one bottle of charcoal.

Or you can go down to your local bass pro in advance… and get a filter straw, or another water filter system and make bottle quality drinking water instantly all for less then $100. It should be kept in with all your emergency gear, like a flashlight, and freeze dried food, blankets, and fire starter etc…

You need to use sand, coal, rocks, and the rope method, then add portable aqua, and pa plus, then boil it. That would be the cleanest water you can make.
