Try surfing it in bigger, longer, slopy waves ( Tourmaline, Sunset Cliffs or a point break on a higher tide and punchy swell) so you can get the turns dialed-in!

Can you surf the board as a short board and can you still do air, s with it

I would probably stop riding that board if your looking to improve, and maybe get a more manoeuvrable board, and if you want a board that is good in small conditions maybe get a swallow tail or a rounded square tail

All fun and games but you need to learn how to lay into your turns more aggressively, you're just slightly leaning. :)
