A thing I always found kinda cute was the fact that to save solaire you have to give humanity to the Fair Lady, which is basically the most caring act available to the player in the game

I also love the fact that his armor says that it's not special or magic, but rather solaire made it all the way by his own strength alone.

Solaire's design is based on being best boi and crying when you forget to kill the sun worm thingie and advancing too much on Lost Izalith, wich happens every damn playthrough i swear fml.

Fun little tidbit: In dark souls 3 the developers had to choose which ending from DS1 they wanted to go with. They chose that the First Flame was in fact rekindled and the lore reason is that instead of the player reaching Gwyn and doing it Solaire did it instead. This is because if you do kill the sunlight maggot he makes it all the way to the Kiln of the First Flame all on his own and you can summon him as a golden phantom. It's a little funny timeline wise (but dark souls makes it clear that even time is breaking down with the fading of the first flame) but it's cannon that in stead of the player, Solaire not only finds his radiant sun, but becomes it. And with his rekindling of the flame he shares his warmth with the rest of existence, a final ray of sunshine until the events of DS3. In this house we love our boy Solaire <3

He decided to wait for you there as a last act of kindness, as his last task of jolly cooperation

To be fair, Miyazaki himself has said that he likes to think that, after you beat Gwyn with him, he returns to his world and links the fire himself, taking Gwyn's place as the new sun.

On my first play through, I rekindled the fire, not knowing enough about the lore, just thinking it was another fantasy quest you do because you were told to.

Never again.

I'd like to see your take on the theory that "The Sun" that is the center of the Warriors of Sunlight is in fact "The Son", or The Nameless King of Dark Souls 3, who is widely believed to be the disowned firstborn of Gwyn. That the Warriors of Sunlight do not follow Gwyn, but instead seek out the Sun/Son, to learn His ways of independence from the Gods of Fire among the Dragons, or at least their decendants. So when Solaire talks about seeking out his own Sun, he is actually rejecting Gwyn and his Age of Fire by seeking out a wholly different kind of Light.
