How To Carpet Siege With Hotkeys | EU4 Guide

I get a lot of comments asking how I quickly split my armies into *mostly* equal stacks and send them out in each direction quickly, assuming I'm using mods.
This is a 100% vanilla solution to carpet sieging and I hope that it's helpful!

I've always wondered how you did that. I've learnt a number of things about game play from watching your campaigns, but handy figured out how you did did those carpet sieges. It even sounds cool when you split them all up!

select a stack. press s to split. drag to select the two stacks. press s-v-s-v -- s splits, v deselects the remaining half stack. You can highlight the resultant stacks and keep alternating s-v-s-v, and this will divide your stack into 1/2, 1/4, 1/8, 1/16, etc, without the units ever having to leave the province first. I use this to divvy up 40k+ troops and then use the classic method to carpet siege (select all, send to province, press v, select new province.) More or less the same but I find this method a bit faster and easier to handle huge stacks.

So S->S->Click->S divides your army into 4 but you can also divide it into 8 with: it's quite nice once you get the hang of it. As far as I know, it was Arumba who figured this out.

Personally I don't like carpet sieging with artillery or cav so I do exactly what you do right, but with ONE little step before the others...Z.

Hit Z and it will split all infantry from the stack.

this is also good for scorch earth tactic by making an enemy army move slower like hit em hard and get out fast.
