I say 16. I usually get these in a second or 2 then skip to the end to see if my answer was correct. As I get older my trust in my answer is not as much as it was 40+ years ago when I first learned this.

Just a random thought, and I highly doubt that the world is going to change one iota because of anything I say, but it strikes me that it would be useful if there was a semantic difference between ÷ and /.
/ could mean "everything before this is the numerator and everything after it is the denominator."
÷ could mean "divide the term immediately before this by the term immediately following it."
Or, if we prefer ascii characters for convenience, we could use / and \.

I dont like error-prone mental math.
I used pencil and paper for noting down intermediate results to reach the main result.
18 : 3 x 2 + 4 --> Using parentheses to prioritize according to PEMDAS rules
4 +[(18 : 3) x 2] --> Work it from the inside out : (18 : 3) --> [6 x 2] --> 4 + 12 --> 16 ---> Main result

This was easy. I've not learned algebra but simple maths is easy thanks to learning the times tables in primary school! I'm now 70.

Do you provide tangible ( paper back, hard cover) for your courses or they all digital. I like to learn from books - senior citizen here.

12+4=16
16 is the answer

One of the easiest to do. Very straightforward. However - there is NO reason that you could not use parenthesis.

OK, I got 16, the correct answer, but I did use my HP calculator.

So, 18 * 2 = 36, 36/3 = 12, 12 + 4 = 16

Sorry, I didn’t use PEMDAS, and I didn’t work the problem left to right. Why did I get the right answer?

And again, the answer is YES! And for those who thought he wants the value of the expression, it's 16.

The answer is 7. You multiply first, then divide then add. We were taught BODMAS, which means, By, Of, Divide, Add, Subtract.

I got 16. It went like this: 18 · 1/3 · 2 = 6 · 2 = 12, 12 + 4 = 16.
