Blender Modular Design - 01 The Painfully Basics

This is a real time badly narrated follow along style video where I will go through my whole process for creating modular environments in Blender, from starting out with the painfully basics to much more advanced modeling and texturing techniques. At the moment this is planned to be an ongoing project with weekly or biweekly uploads, but all is subject to change.

This might be interesting to Blender newcomers (just as myself): instead of manually toggling increment snapping on and off, you could also hold CTRL while moving the object. This will also make it snap to the grid. I find this a little more convenient while moving the objects around in the viewport (aand because I often missed toggling snapping). There you go :)

btw for anyoen stuck on the corner thing u need to use control j to join the two peices after sheering them

2 years later and you are a god send already on the first part. You talked yourself down on the intro (Although the time-lapse was amazing looking). And even if all I watched was this video, You have helped me tremendously. Even though in the beginning, when you showed stuff like setting up the quick tools, I was feeling excited and impatient to get actually started, that stuff was super helpful and nothing in the video was a waste of time.

Thanks a lot. This reinforced a few things I already knew and helped make better sense of the snapping system, which had been trial and error before. Also, You're the first I've seen to recommend and show how the Q menu works. I've got so many things to assign to that. 2:48 ctrl+A for the context in reseting/aplying transformations, i do prefer use Q menu for "checker desselect" or "select random" in edit mode because they don't have a native key-shortcut and are not that common used but when you need to use you need repeat it a lot...
