The R5 3600 appeared to look better. If you look at the CPU and GPU usage, you can see that the R7 1700 was being used more than the R5 3600. Along with looking at the GPU, the GeForce RTX 3070 appeared to be utilized less with the R7 1700 than the R5 3600, which has more GPU usage. That is called CPU bottlenecking, and the R7 1700 has more bottleneck. Therefore, the R5 3600 is better than the R7 1700.

Interesting how Vulkan favoured the 1700. Vulkan is known to utilize high core counts way more efficient than DirectX. But in this case the 1700 not only has a disadvantage in IPC and cache but also in overall raw performance despite having 2 more cores.

The truth it is that 1700 still a good cpu for heavy tasks an gaming, if you overclcok to 4 ghz you can approach same results in a lower temperature, and well when you overclcok, temperature is the most important thing caous in stock mode he take lower temperatures than R5 3600

Got me self a r7 1700 with rx5700xt. Wonder if i should uograde it. I olayed most games just fine . Not sure about the hype of newer processor gives better performance. Nothing that I can see of. The comparison was shown in numbers. But the eye still see no difference.

Seems I bought the corrrect video card for my r5 3600. I wanted to buy a RTX 3070 but I went for a 3060ti knowing that a 3070 would be cpu bottle necked.

This is why i told a friend to upgrade from his Ryzen 7 1700 to a Ryzen 9 5900X, the latter is pretty well balanced for single core perfomance, thread count, MASSIVE increase for everything.

20fps or so on average. Looks like I need to upgrade. I didn’t realize that my 1700 was bottlenecking my 2080 super so much. I’m assuming I can expect similar numbers since you ran tests at 1080p.
