Great review, really thorough and honest. Well done

Oh my god! A new vehicle with knobs instead of everything being on the touchscreen! I love it!

The 10spd would have absolutely helped. Having a smaller gear split would help this engine stay on its torque curve while in the hard pulls. I really hope that trans finds it's way into this truck sooner rather than later.

GM should have kept the 4.10 axle ratio and gave the 6.6 the 10 speed...maybe they could at least offer it as a Max Trailering Package option? I realize not all end users need max towing.

I remember back when 6 speeds was a lot

I would love to see you guys get a late 90s Chevy with a 454 and the 8100 vortec and compare them to each other and contemporary vehicles as well

Great review. They pulled 16, 000 lbs, UPHILL, at 2 miles ABOVE sea level, with a GAS engine 3/4 ton SRW! The truck did it. I wouldn't complain about those times, speeds, or brake applications. 3/4 ton gassers were rated for 9250# towing just several years ago. I also would never attempt that. Ponder the physics. This is getting silly.

Okay that's great great review but what about towing an 8, 000 lb trailer because most people never tow a 16, 000 lb trailer

This Chevy just towed 16, 0000# at high elevations up hill with a small block V8. Sounds like biggest issue was the transmission wouldn't down shift to maintain speed.

This was a good run up the super ike just as the 2017 Silverado 2500 HD Ext cab did with its super ike run but this new truck is pulling more weight and a different trailer which added a heavier pin wt and more wind resistance the flat bed trailer did not have.

The '17 run was done with the 360 hp 380 tq 6.0 V8, 4.10 rear pulling a 13, 500 lbs goose neck trailer.
Time: 10:22 MPG: 2.3 Brake applications: 13 Noise Decibels: 71 Slowest Speed Observed: 23 MPH

This '20 Crew Cab Silverado trucks 401 hp 464 tq 6.6 V8, 3.73 rear was pulling a 16, 000 lbs tall horse trailer.
Time: 11:53 MPG: 2.4 Brake applications: 10 Noise Decibels: 68.7 Slowest Speed Observed: 25 MPH

This new run was pretty good considering that massive wind brake of a trailer and added wt. used in this years testing.

Gasser saves $10k from the un-hackable epa Dmax, so use the extra money for a 50 state legal magnussen supercharger, tow awesome and never worry about DPF or fuel systems again + fill up anywhere.

I can't believe I found you guys like 2 years ago by chance, just searching for videos of fully loaded trucks hauling up long mountain passes. All your videos and series are fun, informative, and awesome!

Really looking forward to seeing how that new Ford 7.3 does in the Super Duty with the Tremor package.

Only a Gm would be applauded for the steering wheel and seat being straight inline.

I love your towing tests. Do you ever do Ike gauntlet test with heavy payload? As a truck camper guy it would be great to know how the new crop gas and diesel HD dually trucks handle 5-6000 lb truck campers!

only a mother could love that front end and those mirrors

Great test. I would like to see the test with a lighter trailer - maybe 10, 000lbs. Most people towing over 15, 000lbs will choose the diesel.

I love the big square industrial look of these trucks

I would suggest having different benchmarks for Gas and Diesel. Two different animals with different pros and cons. I would also love to see how this thing tows at lower elevations. I live in Texas. I think the performance would be way better down here at 1, 00o ft elevation but I would like to know just how much.

Finally someone who understands air density.. 5:33 he said " we're losing a lot air density, there is about 30% less".. As in " 30% less air" lol.. Great video!
