The Supreme Court is weighing Donald Trump’s immunity case after arguments Thursday. Justices will decide not only if Trump can be prosecuted for his actions as president, but how the law should apply to all future presidents. The claim of absolute immunity is one that both liberal and conservative justices seemed poised to reject.

NO ONE IS ABOVE THE LAW, and that means that if anyone breaks the law they need to be in jail. We all are accountable for our actions.

Another turning point in American history. This decision to decide if the president has the right to break the rule of law will determine if Americans will live in a Democracy or a Monarchy.

And a decision that will affect Bush, Obama, Biden too.

The fact that they are going to take months deciding if Trump is above this law is shameful. There is no reason they are even hearing this. Just a stall tatic to get Trump off the hook I have no respect whatsoever for this joke of a court.

If it benefits the United States of America ok, but not to benefit him self to stay out of trouble

No president requires immunity, they need to follow and maintain lawful leadership. It’s that simple. All official acts should be lawful to start with.

If Trump is granted absolute immunity, what would be different from Putin, Bin Salman eliminating their opponents as Navalny or Kassogui

I hope those black justices honor
Our beloved Doctor Martin Luther King
And all our heros who fought with valor
To build the USA on the principles of law not a King

The Supreme Court and Trump's attorneys are talking around what to me is a simple question, thereby confusing the issue. The test of Presidential immunity for acts committed while a sitting President should be whether those acts were committed within the scope of his/Presidential duties. I think the only people who would argue that interfering with the results of an election as well as engaging in seditious and treasonous acts would be Trump and his motley crew of shysters. If the Supreme Court does not see this, we are in big trouble!

Correction to previous comment: Next to last sentence should have read: "I think the only people who would argue that interfering with the results of an election as well as engaging in seditious and treasonous acts were part of Trump's official duties would be Trump and his crew of motley shysters." Also, the Supreme needs to take control of this case and recast it as a question of the scope of Presidential duties, which presumably does not include aiding/abetting an insurrection to overthrow our Constitutional government.

Trump always said if you buy the judges, that’s what help makes deals, and he was right!

The more power the court gives the Executive Branch....the less to their own Judicial Branch. A SEPARATION OF POWERS BETWEEN THREE BRANCHES. A President with full immunity could just eliminate the court if he wanted, or "make them disappear". The court ought to tred lightly.

If no one is above the law; how is the IRS collecting income tax?

Immunity is enshrined in the Constitution itself, though. That's not whats the immunity case is about. It's about whether Trump was acting as President or Candidate in his attempts to overturn the last presidential election, and he was the latter because the Trump campaign paid for it. In an ideal world, Trump would not be immune from prosecution. The fact that the United States is about to be destroyed by a stupid, evil and insane former reality TV show host completely baffles me.

It should be over by now. Either presidents are or are not. It’s presidents don’t have immunity than the Supreme Court is the president. So just eliminate the position.
