I spent 4 years in the Marine Corps in the early 1990s. If anything that was classified in any capacity I would be locked up. I truly don't understand why someone like a judge would try to defend someone who has blatantly stolen classified material and taken them home to put in their bathroom. Not even just that but boxes of it. Deeply frustrating. I served in the Marines for this?

Thomas doesn’t want special counsels to be appointed because he doesn’t want to be investigated by one.

The Special Counsel, as you have said, is appointed to eliminate the appearance of political favoritism. Janet Reno's appointment of Ken Starr in the Whatwater case is a good example of how that worked. Reno was nominated to be AG by Bill Clinton but then appointed a special counsel that definitely DID NOT show any favoritism toward the subject of his investigation - Bill Clinton. Jack Smith has only followed the law and where the evidence has led him. Please notice that Trump's lawyers and the Justices that have ruled in his favor have NEVEER suggested Trump was innocent, only that there is a technical reason why he can't be tried. He's a criminal.
