We had a set up very similar to this except we had whole spot frozen in tubes the same diameter as the barrel. We were launching 300 yds easy including 6 oz sinkers frozen in the ice.
I think what I watched here would get a lot more distance by adding a shot of water down the barrel to cut down on the blow by.

Using stink bait I see on the two rods that weren’t doing anything. Glad that cannon rod holder worked 100 % where you caught that angry red ear slider and the smaller catfish. It goes to show you’ve truly been fishing for a while Zak as you know how the catfish have moved via the heat. Nice job Zak. Keep up the good work and Catch Em’ All.

actually it might work with wrapping the bait fish with a piece of bread to make a good seal that way the bread is biodegradable food for the fish and it helps seal the fish in the Canon better for distance

When we were hand lining Yellowtail, shrimp is the best bait, but it's so soft, they can suck it off the hook without getting caught. BUT....if you get a plastic pan as big as a bread pan, and fill it half way with water and mix a pound of salt in the water. Use it to soak the shrimp in for about 5 or 10 minutes, then pull one out as you need it. The shrimp comes out as though as leather, and you can catch 4 or 5 snapper on the same shrimp. Works good with cut Herring as well. Use less bait and catch more fish.
