Wireless Works by Cambium Networks hosted an engaging virtual discussion with Frontera Consulting and Aeronet Wireless Broadband focusing on FWB vs Wi-Fi MESH

Fixed Wireless Broadband is the idea of utilities. Think of a water tower and how it delivers water all over the neighborhood. Broadband is like this; you have a central location that deploys wireless access across the board. Broadband is a point-to-point connection or points to multipoint connection. It’s a fixed location communicating to point A to B or from point A to B to C to D.

Wireless can be a bridge and transmit high-speed data point to point. Or multipoint where one device connects to multiple in-point devices.

WI-FI MESH is a type of technology used to quickly deploy last-mile access to the end-user. The end-user being someone that has a Wi-Fi-compatible device. If you’re in a situation where you need to quickly deploy access to a certain area you use Wi-Fi MESH. Wi-Fi MESH is a couple of Wi-Fi devices 2 or more that interconnect each other through the same radio that is used to access the end-user. It’s a good tool to have in your toolbox. The critical part is Wi-Fi MESH you are generally using the same radio to replicate the signal for hopping between access points and connecting client devices using the same radio.
