About a month ago I was invited to come see the all new 2025 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1!! I knew the car would be more powerful, faster and a bit more extreme than my C8 Z06, but my guess of 850-900 horsepower was not even remotely close.

Twin Turbo, flat-plane crank 5.5L LT7 V8 making 1,064 HORSEPOWER.
More aggressive aero and you lose the front trunk due to the cooling/air duct.
215+ mph top speed, and sub 10s quarter mile time.

Join me as I struggle to comprehend what the ZR1 is going to be like, and debate if I should be planning on selling my Z06 for a ZR1. That is if I can even get an allocation!!!

Keep the zo6. As an engineer, we know, the more complicated...the more potential issues. Not saying that it will have issues but there is a potential. Also, at 670hp, what more do you need for the street? Regardless, I'm supportive either way. Love you eddie

The average income of a Z06 owner is only 310k?! I figured it would be much higher. I felt a little sick buying mine. Definitely the most expensive car I’ve bought so far.

The biggest thing that will make or break it at this point is price! I want to see my trade difference between my Z06 and ZR1… that will be the deciding factor!

Same problem - the C8 ZR1 announce was 5 days ago. I have a 2023 ZO6 with 4000 miles. I called my regular (30 years Corvette dealer) who sells lots of Corvettes (over 50 a year) and he said the C8 ZR1 will probably be "unobtainium" for anyone except super dealers. Let's see. I had a 1990 LT5 ZR-1 (later became a LPE C4 ZR-1), and ordered a 2019 C7 ZR1. I love my C8 ZO6 - but I have a deposit on the new ZR1. Will I take delivery? yes if my dealer can get one.

But one or the other, I am keeping my Z06. The sound of the Z06 is what sells me. The turbo's muffling the LT7 just enough for me to have a preference for the Z06's sound over ZR1.

So, I also never thought I was gonna be a Corvette owner. But then, I bought a 2019 manual transmission. ZR1. Now, in 2024 I bought a Z06 Z07 convertible. And I am very hopeful and prayerful that I’m gonna be able to buy a new ZR1. Actually, hopefully 2 of them. I just don’t think they gonna make cars like that for much longer. At least not at $300, 000 price.

To the degree that one values the high pitch sound at the top end the Z06 is more of an experience than the ZR1, as the latter is being muffled by the turbos. If the power is the draw, the ZR1 Zora will probably have another 300-400 hp or so, and 4WD so acceleration wise it'll be even more brutal than the ZR1.
