Anybody who pays $200K+ for a new Z06 is a fool. When you get up to that territory, you can get a real exotic like a used 458 or a used Huracan. The real reason why you get a Z06 is that it's the "reasonably affordable" alternative to an exotic. If you end up paying a stupidly-high markup, that advantage goes out the window.

Nice show. What the hell is the GGT???

My wild guess is, if you can afford to buy the new Z06, you’re not worried about taxes.

I'm good with the base c8 .Anybody who pays 200K for a vette needs their head examined .Thats Lambo Hurracan prices

The new Z06 is a track focused machine intended to compete with European super cars and in my opinion, the data so far indicates that it DOES that at a price point that is far less than other cars in its class.

It’s disappointing that you don’t give credit to the amazing GM engineers because on several fronts they have pulled off a miracle. I mean the highest horsepower naturally aspirated engine ever produced by a major manufacturer. Come on…

I’m glad that I got 2023 C8 after ~14 months waiting. I don’t know how an average guy like me to get z06. I will stick with C8. Thanks 🙏 Robert.

My top 3:
1. Dealer markups
2. Unproven
3. Weight
I have a C6 Z06 and Callaway C7 Z06 in my garage and I track them both. C6Z is on its second motor and C7Z runs hot on track even with upgraded GM radiator (mine is A8). I will get a C8Z in second year provided the testing proves it’s reliable on track

What struck a chord with me, was your #2 & 7 reasons, looks and uncertainty. I have always felt the C5 through C7 Z06 looked so much better than the standard Corvette, so much so, I'd really not consider anything less. With the C8, my feelings are different. While side by side, I'm confident the Z06 will look considerably more aggressive, I don't feel like it's a big enough difference to deter me from the standard C8 on looks alone. With the performance of the C8 being quite exceptional, it's that much harder to justify the additional cost of the Z06. There's a good chance that 5.5 liter FPC engine will be just fine, but what if it's long term prognosis isn't all that great?

Yes, the Z06 is a track car and for the 95% of Corvette buyers who never track their cars, the Z06 is little more than a status symbol or the base for more videos on YouTube. Since max power is made at high rpms, I wonder if it will actually me more responsive in daily driving. On the other hand it takes the C8 to a whole new level placing it squarely in the company of true supercars and in that company it is an incredible bargain. A base 1LT/Z51 with mag ride is @ $75K. The standard wheels are better than anything on the base car so add another $1k, so premium is @ $30k - $33k with gas guzzler tax. If the base car had a 670 hp option upgrade, how much would buyers be willing to pay. I'm guessing a lot. If Ferrari built the same car, it would probably start at $225k so when you change the frame of reference, the Z06 at MSRP is a steal. Add $50k markup and you start having second thoughts.

Should have kept the C7 Z06 Robert. I don’t remember if yours was an M7, but my two are (one for summers in Michigan—a Z06/Z07; and one for winters in Florida). I guarantee you they’re a lot more fun, and are absolutely just as quick (with 650 and 725 hp respectively) as 999 people out of 1000 need a car that brakes and handles incredibly to be!!!

Robert very good points #1 dealers should not be allowed to sell cars over MSRP👎🏻

I thought this car was supposed to retail for $60k. What happened to that?

What happened to GM when they introduced the C8 they said they would be so affordable now you have to pay upwards of 150, 000 to get your hands on one of them newer c8 😞

My biggest complaint about the 2023 Z06 is no availability. My second complaint is the dealer markup and deanship BS games. Although I think the looks should have and could have been better I can deal with it. At first I didn't like the Z07 wing but now that I've seen it I think it gives the car a very exotic look. And I like that about it. If I could get an allocation I'd buy a Black 3LZ Z07 convertible.

I’m happy I have my Z06 it’s not a C8 but it is a C6 and that’s where they really started to become very special.

You are 100% right, exactly the same interior and same exterior, exterior has the center exhaust, 3.6 inches wider and larger wheels and of course, the motor, I have a 23 Z51 w/mag htc and it’s 0-60 in less than 3 seconds, it is more car than I really need, yes, I would love to have a Z06 sound, but is it worth 60-70 thousands more? And like you said, the reliability of this new LT6 motor, no one knows, but the LT2 motor on the other hand, is basically bulletproof

We have the same build. What are you using in the engine area to make it look so nice? And do you use anything on the interior? I’m afraid to put anything on.

You got me with this one Robert! Thumbs up and subscribed. I just got my 2023 C8 a month ago and based on the zo6 $ madness… I’ll be sticking with my stingray.

Don't buy it new for sure, like all Corvettes there's a steep depreciation curve and if you're paying way over MSRP to begin with it just makes it worse. At the end of the day it's just a Corvette, they'll make tens of thousands of them and you'll never be ahead of the curve.

The ENTIRE C8 rollout has been the WORST new car introduction in the history of GM and they just keep making it worse. Did it ever occur to GM to perhaps start making s!$&t themselves?!! They’d be in control of quality, control of production volume, control of changes, etc. what a concept! Old Henry Ford and the Dodge brothers must be rolling over in their graves with how US auto production has fallen slave to foreign suppliers.🥺
