It's a sad situation when jobs like being a waiter are not given to people of color in Brazil because they want to uphold a standard. Even the presidential cabinet in Brazil is mostly fair skinned members. It gives you an idea that while the racism was not as violent in Brazil as it is in America, it continues to keep a socio-economic gap between those who have whiter and darker skin colors.

I'm Brazilian and she is was 100% right, people think that Brazil is more dangerous that actually really are. We don't have school shooting like in US, and another stuffs more common in south american countries. Fortaleza CE, Natal-RN, João Pessoa PB they are not that dangerous. Rio de Janeiro is more dangerous that this 3 combined, but Brazil is continental very huge, is not all places that you have a high chance to get kill.

I visited the city around 15 years ago and thought the place was really beautiful, sunny, very hot and windy. Really nice beaches and lots of stuff to do. However seeing your points of views enlightens better the concept of how is it to leave in northeast. Feels like it's a good place to visit. However yet the matter of a dangerous place maybe still lingers and could be depends where what time with who you're with. Just as adds up, the salaries for waiters in northeast should be around R$1.500, 00 a month with all benefits.

Imagine living in a world where someone thinks they are entitled to my things that I spent part of my life working for! With all due respect to this sister she is putting her American perspective of races and classes into a completely different situation than the violence that happens in the USA. Just for a tiny itty bitty of context an iPhone in Brazil is around R$ 15.000 to R$20.000, that is between $3.000 to $4.000 in the USA. No you are not entitled to my property! Also understand that A lot of white folks are under or just above that poverty line in a country like Brazil. Being poor is never an excuse to commit crime. Rio and the southeast of Brasil always hold the title of the best area of Brazil to visit. When Fortaleza became interesting, they started to say Fortaleza is dangers.
Fortaleza is the closer airport to Usa, Europe, Africa and most of South America.
And yes, most of the population of the northeast
, including Fortaleza are not very white.
