The more relevant question should be: is Apple the new old Microsoft?

But tbh nothing will be as beautiful as Apple's products.

Oh crap the surface studio looks like the best Mac that has never been released

This is some of the most levelheaded and precise reporting in the whole tech reporting industry. Tremendous quality and a great format.

Microsoft problem is apps! I don't understand why they can't keep up with current apps

Apple makes more money because all of their products are 800 times the price of Microsoft products.

As several commenters have noted, the recent announcement of Windows on ARM with full-speed emulation of x86 could be a very big deal.  It could mean that in a few years that most new Windows laptops and tablets will run on ARM, be thinner and lighter with no cooling fans, have 10 to 20 hour battery life, and have built-in cellular connectivity.  It could also make Windows phones a lot more compelling by having the ability to run x86 desktop apps when docked.

Surface Studio revealed a big gap in Apple's OS strategy.  For years Apple has been insisting that there is no reason to include touch in a desktop OS.  Obviously, Surface Studio removed all doubt that they were wrong.  So now they are in a position that they can't even build their answer to Surface Studio, even if they wanted to.  MacOS doesn't support touch, and iOS would be ridiculous on that form factor.

Another important development that you alluded to is Microsoft's embrace of Ubuntu Linux.  From the beginning, Microsoft's OS architecture has enabled it to support multiple "subsystems."  The latest release of Windows 10 includes a subsystem for Linux which allows many native user-mode Ubuntu binaries to run on Windows.  Again, this is running native on Windows, and not a virtual machine.  Right now, it's mostly for command line tools, but it's easy to imagine a more or less full implementation of user-mode Ubuntu running on Windows 10.  It could fill a perceived gap in Windows,  and greatly widen the appeal of Windows in certain influential market segments.

few years ago I would say no but now it is not far fetched from reality. Microsoft is doing great stuff!

You make really thoughtful videos. And I appreciate that you avoid the overly-simplistic conclusions that are so common online (all the 'this is dead', 'that is dead'). You seem to understand the complex nature of these markets and take note of the undercurrents.

Microsoft is not the new apple. Microsoft will never be apple. Microsoft is much more better than apple.

5:50 that's actually a good point you pointed out right there. I've never thought about it.

Interesting that you only looked a one quarter of sales and that just happened to be Apple's annual new release quarter. It would have been much more accurate (and honest) to look at annual earning figures but then that would not have supported your "Apple is king" narrative.
Also your 103% figure was grossly incorrect even considering your explanation. The total number of cell phones sold during a period constitutes 100%, period. Even if every device sold in that period was by Apple it would still be only 100%. Now we both know that devices other than iPhones were sold which makes your figure even less accurate.
Classically Apple makes about 1/3 of its annual sales in the month after a new release. Based on their sub-20% share of the global market and taking into consideration Samsung's Note7 debacle, the best Apple could hope for in Q4 would be about 46% of global sales.

Of course this issue has little to do with smartphones and everything to do with innovation in the computer side of the industry. Even here your information is less than accurate.
The new MacBook pros are not faster than previous models, only the ssd speeds have increased. In fact from the side by side tests I have seen between old and new models, the older machines ran benchmarks and render tests faster that the new model.

Microsoft has had touch integration in the Windows since at least XP. This was to make for better function in retail systems.

As for Microsoft's focus with the Surface line, it is squarely on the creative professional community, the very community Apple has been giving the middle finger in their focus on the easy money phone and tablet market. It is obvious to a growing number of Mac professional users that if they want to stay viable they will have to leave Apple. And these same professionals were the ones who kept Apple afloat in the lean years.

You should be putting a tag like "#TSB7" or sth on the video's title so I would be able to watch all of your videos easily.
