Eleven people went on trial in Sweden on Tuesday, accused of illegally dumping toxic waste in the country's biggest-ever environmental crime case. Among those charged with "aggravated environmental crime" is Bella Nilsson, an ex-stripper who once called herself the "Queen of Trash".

I live just miles from one of the dumps. Yes, the trash is a catasrophy, but why hasn't these sites been more thoroughly checked when they where in operation?! The local governments just took them for their word without checking up on them more?! That is the true scandal! How is it possible that they let it go on for so long?!
