Just soak gummy bears in water, and within a few hours, you’ll start to see them grow… and grow.

This jiggly growth happens thanks to gelatin. The gelatin in gummy bears is made up of really, really long molecule chains, all tangled up and linked to each other. The way these chains are twisted together creates tiny pockets where liquid can be trapped. As the gummy bears sit and soak, the water moves into these pockets and makes the bear grow. And gelatin can absorb a lot of water — up to 10 times its weight!
