Today we’re looking at the POCO X3 Pro. With a Snapdragon 860, 6GB of ram, 128GB of upgradable storage and a 120 hz refresh rate display, for $200 this may be the best value android phone out right now. 3 colours: black, bronze and frost blue I have here. Recognisable 2 tone matte glossy design. Back is plastic. Dual sim slot, can support up to 1TB micro SD card. Power button with built-in finger print sensor, is reliable and fast. IR blaster to connect your TV. Headphone jack and usb c port. X3 Pro offers stereo sound. Speakers do get loud but not much depth in the lows and highs. 6.67” IPS LCD panel. Small punch-hole camera. For a LCD panel is quite good, not OLED like on RedMe note 10 Pro, which will have better dynamic range and colours. X3 Pro does have 120 hz adaptable refresh rate, scrolling and system animation are buttery smooth. Display gets plenty bright. I was not too fond of is the colour shift that occurs when you angle the screen from side to side. Covering the screen is gorilla glass 6, will provide scratch/crack resistance. Poco have also included a pre-installed plastic screen protector with the clear case that you get in the box. Still I wish the back of the phone was made of glass of aluminium. The internal structure of the phone feels sturdy, showing no flex. Cameras on the X3 Pro are usable. The 48mp main wide angle camera can perform well. Colour reproduction is reasonably accurate, dynamic range is decent. In darker lighting the picture quickly becomes noisy and starts to loose detail. The ultra wide lens is nice to have but lacks in sharpness. Still for $200 these cameras are usable. But in a world where affordable phones are only getting better, I was hoping for more here. Having 4 cameras looks impressive on a spec sheet but but I would prefer if Poco had included one lens and made it as good as possible. Google Pixel 5a or Apple iPhone SE. Front camera is good enough for video calls. The POCO X3 Pro has a 5120 mah battery. In normal use I get 5-6 hours of screen time. Can get through most of the day with a full charge. Nice to see a fast 33W charger included. Let’s talk performance, the biggest strength of the X3 Pro. Runs android 11 with MIUI 12 on top. Has a Snapdragon 860. Day-to-day performance is smooth. With normal productivity tasks, switching between apps the phone keeps up well and rarely stutters. 6gb of ram help apps stay open in the background. Not much of a mobile gamer but in testing the X3 plays games at smooth 60fps. Overall the Poco X3 pro is a phone that impressed me, it’s biggest selling point is performance. Something you do not only benefit from during more intense tasks but also day to day use where it feels snappy and keeps up well. I look forward to seeing what the upcoming X4 Pro will have to offer, in the meantime for $200 the X3 Pro offers a lot of value that is hard to beat at this price!
