Lego Batman's WEIRD Nintendo DS port

Lego Batman: the Video Game from 2008 is one of the most beloved and iconic titles from TT Games' run with the franchise. However, as I've shown before with Lego Indiana Jones and Lego Star Wars, the handheld ports would always be significantly altered to work on weaker hardware, and this is no exception. The Nintendo DS version of Lego Batman has several dramatic changes, from an expanded roster, vehicle gameplay changes, massively overhauled levels with new content and boss fights, and more. Come see just how weird this port gets.

as a kid, i only had lego batman on the ds and assumed it was the only version of the game., played it for hours with my brother as a kid, and still think its the better version when it comes to artstyle. theres just something about the more cel shaded artstyle of the game that makes me love it (seriously, the cathedral levels just look so good in that version!

Strange confession: I stole this game from a dear friend when I was like 5 or 6 (I think), played the hell out of it and then "gifted" it to him years later when I was 14 so he could play it again since it was peak Lego Batman lol

I remember going into an Apple Store that had Lego Batman on a Mac and being blown away because I was used to the ds version

It's interesting to me that the characters who don't have a official lego minifigure look different from their console versions. There must of been a very limited sense of coordination between the two teams besides a general story outline

I think Lego Batman was one of the first games I remember playing. The first Lego game for sure. I didn't know enough English as a kid to understand what "Load game" meant, so every time I opened the game I had to start all over again. I lost count of how many times I beat up Clayface. (Also, i was afraid of Batman's red suit because I thought it was the devil)

This, and lego star wars (the wii version) were the only games I had for a while. And then when I found out that the console version of lego batman was different, I just assumed there was a more "ds" like port out there that I couldn't find, and a more "wii" like one on the ds, that I also couldn't find

This game is most likely based on the Batman animated series but with inspiration from the original Batman movies in reversed order, but the characters' costumes were actually based on their comic counterparts while Harley Quinn, Two-Face, Mr. Freeze and Clayface look more reassemble from the animated show, except Killer Moth who never appear in the show

Another difference between the 2 versions is Clayface as in the console version it is the Basil Karlo version but in the portable version it's Matt Hagen

Actually, I believe the Scarface piece is the old "microfigure" mold that was used in many of the old Lego board games, but I could be mistaken
The new microfigure mold is more akin to an actual mini figure, while the old one looks more like a 1x1 brick with minifigure attributes, like a head and molded leg separation
Scarface himself actually has arms on his piece too in this game, making him look more akin to the new baby minifigure mold, although this game was made like, a decade and a half before the minifigure baby was made

Incredibly well made video dude! I should really look into the weird ports for Lego Star Wars, like the recent PS5 rerelease of Lego Star Wars PSP!

I always thought the console version of the game had two-face's DS bombs but sadly I was disappointed
