Sure, Calvin Johnson had some nagging injuries towards the end of his career… Knees, ankles, whatever… But don’t get it twisted. He walked away from the game because the game, and even more so the Lions, weren’t giving anything back to him.

He was putting his body on the line almost every week, season after season just to watch the front office make the same boneheaded signings and to watch the team flounder helplessly as a result of the ownership’s incompetence.

Why would he waste another year of his life...? Like Calvin told the Italian press, “It’s the definition of insanity”. So much so that he was willing to walk away from the game he loved since he was a kid and quite literally millions of dollars just so he didn’t have to play another game in a Lions uniform.

I miss Megatron. What an amazing wide receiver to watch, as he was virtually a guarantee to make some highlight-worthy plays. He was the leading drive behind me getting into football and winning my first fantasy football championship. I hope he's enjoying retirement and has healed well from the foot/hand injuries he was dealing with towards the end of his career.

I loved to watch him play, but I am glad he left when he did. Walking away while he still can walk. Its a dangerous sport and the Lions havent done anything that any player would risk life altering or life ending injury to achieve

I've never seen a wide receiver come down with the ball being covered by 3 db's as much as Calvin. He's the BEST receiver all time imo.
