i thought this may be another hipster item and at first glance i was thinking it was similar to my Karrimor. But boy i was wrong. That is a really nice pack and the price is reasonable for this too.

This is my go to pack for everything! You will sweat if it is hot outside, not a ton of breathability on the back panel. The laptop pocket is great for any flat items that don't need to be accessed while wearing it. The main compartment is bigger than you think. I have stuffed it full up to the zipper and then realized I had enough room left above the zipper track to store another 2L or so.

The shock cord is not sewn on the pack and can be replaced if needed.

The top pocket will keep things from getting scratched, but it can sag down into the main compartment if you put heavier items into it.

seems nice, but overall I think I prefer my GrandTour. I own multiple backpacks and it's by far my favorite daypack. Your video on it greatly influenced my purchase. My biggest complaint on the pack (and it seems to be an issue on this model too) is that rainflys dont properly wrap the top because the straps, being sown on the very top tend to make the fly slip off somewhat.. and having the rain soaked straps leak directly over into the laptop compartment is a little worrying... I would have liked to see more rain protection to that pocket. So all in all, this pack doesnt perform well at all in a downpour. Ither than that, nothing but great things to say about it and much worth the pricepoint!

First, so glad to you (both) back!
Second.... The cords the close the side pockets.... Are they sewn into the body of the bag? I have an older MountainSmith hip pack. It has small side pockets with shock cords like this backpack. Over time the elastic of the shock cords has decayed. I thought about replacing them with paracord until I realized the shock cord is sewn into the bag itself and cannot easily be repaired. If this bag has a similar design, it'd be a "no go" for me.
