Questions at GenCon 50: What Does Board Gaming Mean to You?

The Dice Tower crew asked this simple question to whomever would be willing to answer it...these are the answers we received!

It means playing sweet, sweet games! Figuring out the rules and improving at the game itself is a huge part of the fun for me. I get to challenge myself and I also enjoy the social aspects of the hobby.

I like the social aspect, it's an amazing way to stay connected with friends. I also really appreciate the medium for what it is, I like elegant designs, and the way the intent of the designer can be codified in rules, and applied at our table with our group of friends. I like reading and movies and music and I feel games share some things with those other creative media, and a well designed board game sings, and makes the game night with our group of friends amazing.

@5:17  0.0  There was a 10K for *Legendary??!!*  0.0          0.0  There was a 10K for *VS* too??!!  I don't even....since when was That's new VS. right?  *Right??*  0.0              I've gotta' hand it to the interviewees, "What does Boardgaming mean to you?" is not really a question that most of us can answer just given a minute.  I guess the short version would be that for me, it's a mental gymnasium.  It gives my mind something to chew on while I'm trying to come up with other solutions or ideas.  Seriously though, A *VS* 10K??  Hey Upper Deck, you've held VS. 10Ks in Vegas before (at a non-gaming resort no less!)  I hear it's *beautiful* in early "July" when it just so happens that there are *tons* of people there already to play a competitive game about Super Heroes.  Actually I would buy a Marvel Vs. Capcom Legendary expansion in a heartbeat.  :3

Well, at first I thought it was incredibly generous to include Alan Moon in this segment after how he embarrassed himself on The Dice Tower live show.  Then, after realizing that his "What Does Board Gaming Mean to You? " response was essentially "It makes me a lot of money and allows me to live a great life"....maybe they left it in to further enlighten us as to his true character.
