I like the idea but...what about the proper cooling of the bulb ? The heat generated by the actual bulb inside its reflector would have no chance of escaping. Maybe the air being circulated by the blower is enough to cool off the entire bulb ? Has anyone tried it ? I am a little afraid as I don't want to see the lamp explode !!

I have not used a frosted glass filter, but when I was copying an old wedding film, partly shot outside the church, then inside. I was using speed control on the projector. I noticed the film was noticeably without flicker for the inside shots. I corrected as well as I could with the speed control; almost no effort was needed for the inside shots under dim lighting.
