Notes on the transcription and tabs
(1) By including tabs I am potentially supporting the widely held belief that guitarists are notorious for not being able to read music. Tabs are a good crutch when you start but you're not a beginner! Learn to read music :)
(2) Django's sense of time made this solo very difficult to put down on paper. Couple that with the inconsistencies of the Finale notation software I used and some measures might not seem in time. As usual this transcription should be used in conjunction with the recording.
(2) Django Reinhardt is one of the rare guitarists that nearly all other guitarists love, regardless of musical style or ability level. Learning this solo was (and continues to be) insight into why this might be true. His technique is simultaneously very aggressive and very laid back. He was a genius.
(3) I have seen many youtube videos offering "gypsy" style licks. While structure is important in practicing, I don't get a sense that Django had a set of licks or riffs from which he drew. (for more evidence of this listen to the alternate take of this very same tune-Django's solo is completely different from the one presented here). So how did he improvise? Learning this solo (in part or whole) is a good start to answering this question.

Thank you so much for the tabs! I couldn't find them anywhere else and this is my favorite Nuages solo ever.

you hit the nail on the head. while django was a gypsy and a guitarist i do not think he played anything like they do today. django's playing (to me) was more melodic and improvised, while all so called "gypsy guitarists" today seem to rely on speed and a set of notes.

Holy moly.  That's some speedy playing there.  I thought I might be able to learn from watching, but I'm not even half that fast.  :P  I might not even be 1/4 as fast actually ha.
