Wildfires burning in Minnewaska State Park Preserve in Ulster County

Crews are fighting wildfires at Minnewaska State Park Preserve in Ulster County, N.Y. More than 200 wildland firefighters, rangers, staffers, and volunteers from several local and state agencies and groups are fighting the fire, officials said. Additionally, 20 firefighters from Canada are due to arrive on Thursday thanks to a mutual aid compact.

I was at Sam's Point when this started. I didn't realize what I was taken pictures of. I live out of state, and just realized what the pictures were that I took. I was going again this weekend, but obviously not now. I hope they contain and extinguish this fast. Such a perfect area!

I don't live to far away from where this brush fire is burning had to close all my windows in my house because of the smell of smoke is really bad

1:06 that fire official did not say putting out the fires before it expands is their first priority...that is concerning... the official is leading us into a disaster.
NY is not prepared and officials are incompetent when the message is take some personal responsibility. They are not equipped nor prepared because the State never made fire safety equipment and aircraft proportional to what would be needed to put out a fire of this size. Total incompetence.
