Hey I'm Daniel Pronk and in this video I explain the global water crisis, which has been called the largest crisis that no one is talking about. In this video I explain the crisis around water, and the solution. The desalination industry has been growing consistently over the last 30 years, and I think the growth will continue if not accelerate which I believe will make for great new investments.

I like how Daniel looks at emerging trends and very basic fundamentals, like scarcity, supply, and demand... very unlike other investor channels. Good stuff!

I traveled to Cabo early this year and my Airbnb host told me that they had to relay on water truck and storage tank for daily water usage. This is an important topic and you did an excellent job analyzing the industry. Thanks for sharing!

There's plenty of water... We just need to find a really efficient way of desalinizing it. Surely something can be invested in that!
It's very true, however, that people waste A LOT of water, as they do with everything else. They'll maybe finally learn when they have to pay dearly for it due to scarcity...

Yes! This topic is vastly underrated and I'm glad you got into that Daniel. Not only from investing position, but also to raise awareness.

I'm of course very curious which companies are in the de-sal sector and your opinion on them, so I'm looking forward to the continuation video.

We're on the same page regarding water (and solar). Yesterday I bought a few shares of PIO, can't wait to see what you bought! Thank you for all the thorough, careful research, presentation, clarity, insight, and integrity. You're a gem.

I also recall many years ago in UK, there was a big push through media, not to use unnecessary water, "shut taps", avoid inflatable pool etc...
Then they started to introduce water meter.

The major issue with desalination isn’t necessarily monetary cost, but the toxic brine (or salt laden brine). It’s environmentally costly, as it throws off ecosystems. Desalination should be viewed as an absolute last resort in our fight for drinkable and usable water. Wastewater treatment plants (companies like Xylem Inc. or Evoqua Water Technologies) are a more sustainable bet, and are more likely to become more prominent. Wastewater plants are also cheaper to operate in comparison to desalination plants. It would be awesome if we powered some wastewater plants by utilizing energy from ocean waves. That would reduce cost even more!

Another viable solution to preserving water could be placing solar panels over canals. There’s currently a study underway in California. India had some great success with this as well! Definitely something to look towards :)
