Stretches after Breast Cancer Surgery or Radiation #shorts
Показать описание
Tightness after surgery or radiation to the breast or chest wall is the most common side effect I see as an oncology physical therapist.
This can be caused by many things, including:
🔸 pain
🔸 fibrosis
🔸 expanders
🔸 scar tissue
🔸 swelling or inflammation
🔸 guarding or fear of movement
Sitting in poor posture and on our phones/iPads during the day definitely doesn’t help either 😬
Gentle stretching and mobility exercises like these can make a massive difference in the speed of recovery and lower pain. These mobility exercises can also help bring back motion of the shoulder and the ability to do daily things like:
🔹getting dressed
🔹bathing
🔹getting ready for the day
🔹caring for children
🔹getting back into sports or hobbies.
Stretches can be taught by a PT specific to what someone needs and can be scaled or modified for safety.
