A society where money doesn’t matter, but the leader has crazy money… of course

Fun Fact: the ranch that this cult used to live on is now a Christian Youth camp and there is still a bunch of cult stuff there which is mildly terrifying

its ironic how rajneesh's ideology was all about "freedom to express oneselves" and "being yourself" but then his cult had a dress code and u were only allowerd to wear read, yellow, pink clothing .

“He was a religious leader but he was not leading anything, he wasn’t even talking to anyone”😂😂😂😂😂

I cannot be the only one who finds it ironic that an Indian dude colonized an American town lmao

I live in Portland, OR. my mom used to see the cult members dressed in all their red clothes. After the cult basically ended the members were just like homeless and she saw them all the time

I literally love asking old people about this since I’m from Portland. My mom said her mom wouldn’t let her wear “sunset colors” for years because of how they were tied to the cult so strongly

Being an Indian it was good to know all this, one correction though, Bhagwan must not have been his first name, maybe it was added later as its literal translation is"God" in hindi, Rajneesh was his first name.

All these cult documentaries I've been watching lately have me convinced that you can say literally anything and thousands of people will unironically flock to it.

my mom was a part of this cult and she was even on the documentary that netflix did for it. she even still has her “osho” necklace. when i was younger she would practice dynamic meditation early in the morning, so she would be blasting music and yelling. it got annoying lol.

as a hindu, they were so disrespectful to our religion, calling himself "bhagwan" (god) and using his words to feed his own ego and thirst for power, everything our religion looks down upon.

Gotta love how the “free sex” thing is just another way to hurt women

Similar cults still exist in India and are actually very common. My mom attended some lectures by a cult leader when she was young and everyone thought it was super cool and encouraged her to go on with it because they usually present it as a religious gathering. She later realised they were constantly trying to scam her and thought the entire thing was pretty shitty so she left

I can’t believe he was only 59 when he died. I thought he was like 75-80 the entire time I watched the doc

Fun Fact: So his commune is presently in the city of Pune, India. It’s not uncommon to still see random white people walking the streets of Pune wearing baggy yellow/red clothes with like disheveled hair. He is more commonly known as “Osho” in India, and still has, SURPRISINGLY, quite a following.

Fun Fact: The land is now used as a Christian Camp. The original buildings are still used.

Fun (considerably terrifying) fact: There's another similar cult leader- this dude that's calling himself Nithyananda, he's also a fugitive that escaped from India, he's somewhere on an island off the coast of Ecuador and has renamed the place and is touting the place as his own country and everything.

The whole thing with the therapy raging is scary. They was out there throwing hands at eachother like yo. Imagine being locked in that room and being assaulted while someone is in a rage. It's a woman worst nightmare
