What would you buy? Compact tractor showdown. Kubota vs John Deere

We’re on the hunt for a new compact Tractor. Wise men have recommended a purchase involving close dealer support which rules out some brands like TYM and Yanmar. We’re seriously looking at both John Deere and Kubota. What would you do?

They’re both good choices. I say shop the dealerships and whichever one treats you better is the one I’d choose. I wanted a Kubota, but they wouldn’t give me the time of day, the JD dealership greeted me with open arms and threw in some extras to sweeten the pot, including a military discount. That was my experience, but everyone is different and that story might well have gone the reverse.
Also, don’t rule out the used market. Dealerships usually have or can get a hold of hood quality used equipment

I would never trade my Kubota for a green yanmar.

If you’re referring to the jd proprietary loader bucket design, they sell adapters. Kubota used to only offer a pin on bucket, but now offer both…for extra $. I have owned a lot of both colors and I really don’t have anything derogatory to say about the machines themselves

Either. Both are great choices. I thought I was buying a Kubota until I went to the dealer and they treated me like an afterthought. I went to Deere and felt appreciated so they got my $50k. That really sums it up and every part or implement I bought later from them they treated me with the same respect. Pick a dealer and then pick a tractor. Ignore price, if you spec it the same, the price is the same.

Great video, I just purchased my LX2610 with a cab and got it financed thru Kubota with 0% for 84 months in Houston Tx.

Used to have 5 deere, now traded 2 deere for 2 kubotas, and I like the machines. What made the difference for me is they gave me a big discount, ship parts to me for free, and the sales rep was really helpful and treats me well amd worked really hard for my business. The Deere salesman didn't want to discount anything, always wants to charge me up the ass for service, and would never send a tech out for service. Charge me $500 each way for service, so would cost me $1000 without the tech looking at the tractor. Bought 2 Kubota M7060 over the Deere 5000 series tractors and love em.

I’m with the other commenters, it’s more about the dealership than the machine for big names like those two. I bought a Kubota and have regretted not visiting the Deere dealership first. Had it one year today and due to the poor dealership experience over that time, I have already been to the Deere dealership to get a feel for how they treat people. That said, I have since spoken with the sales people to look at doing a trade (going to size up this time 😉) and I just have to make a final decision. Much better experience there. My Kubota is great, a little small in retrospect, but that was my own fault. Love the machine but dread dealing with the Kubota dealership.

You may be very surprised about how tough the 1025 actually is and it’s still 25 HP

I like Kubota but their dealers are all shitty in my experience. I’ve come across a few that won’t pass incentives from Kubota onto the customer. Some are thousands higher than suggested retail and won’t deal whether you take financing or pay cash. Others will scalp you on parts. The one I bought my zero turn from wanted to charge me $22 for an oil filter. These compacts are really overpriced for the value they offer and Land Pride was always a low tier manufacturer sold at farm stores. I’m looking at New Holland.

Is that Cashtown Corners? If so, I got my 2nd ever traffic infraction turning south at that set of lights lol. Good times good times. Dude - green??? 🤮 I’ve got a BX25D and a KX040-4 mini ex … the BX is pretty bullet proof - you’ll run out of traction way before you run out of HP - it’s too light in my opinion but it owes me nothing. You’re likely on the right track with the LX. If and when I replace my BX I will absolutely be getting a cab machine … like ONE THOUSAND PERCENT getting a cab!!! This is Canada, what was I thinking? Seriously think about that choice … moving snow is no fun with an open station. I’ve dealt with Andy and Darryl at Stewart’s in Erin - solid fellas. Best of luck - I’ll be watching for your orange equipment to show up 😂
