The aesthetic of this lovely 70s mall, the performance of this slightly unhinged man, the beautiful pond, the lite music, the great framing with people and objects in every corner, I really love this thing…! As a recreational freediving spear-fisherman I actually found this commercial encompassing a deeper insight regarding our society. I am not offended at all, rather, I found the depiction of how this stereotypical suited and tied nerdy man trying to "connect with nature" an accurate reflection of reality. Even if he possibly became aware of the disconnection of buying fish from a store, situated in this concrete jungle he does not know, nor able to find the right way to reconnect. He can't even grasp about what "connection" really means because the rich experience we have out in the ocean has been romanticized, symbolized, and most importantly flattened into a buzz word. The real experience of hunting in the ocean has became something you have to experience to even comprehend. This qualifies as a religious experience and on the contrary, one can argue that the modern life is also a religious experience. Now it comes to the spectacular reveling of the heading of us: The doctrine goes "thou shall embrace the disconnection because thou attempt of reconnect is absurd". This is a clever social commentary on what it means to become "civilized", a triple irony. I love it especially when he was holding the wrong species, good attention to detail.
