10 Must Watch 90s Anime

Here are 10 90s anime i would recommend. Feel free to suggest any other anime you like.

The 90s was a fantastic decade for anime, dispite the economic troubles during the early 90s, the advancments in technology allowed films like Ghost in the Shell to really push the boundaries. A lot of my personal favorite shows aired in the 90s, so it's good to give them some recognition!

Evangelion, Trigun, and cowboy bebop's are some of my favorite anime of all time. I also really like gundam ms team.

I can't believe how clean and detailed the 90's Japanese animation looks like compared to the 90's American animation.

Ahh yeah, the anime of the golden age, before it became over saturated by moe subculture, advertisement, slapstick innuendo's and vivid bright colors enough to give you a seizure. There was just something charming about the medium back then and characters felt alot more organic in the 80's and 90's.

Rurouni Kenshin Trust and Betrayal is an incredible four part OVA I'd recommend to anyone. You don't have to know anything about the original Rurouni Kenshin series to watch it as it is completely standalone. It tells a brilliant tragic story with extremely well developed characters that is paced perfectly and its art and animation have aged beautifully. On top of all that it has an incredibly immersive soundtrack. Highly recommended.

Revolutionary Girl Utena is one of the great anime classics of the 90s. It's not mentioned as often as Cowboy Bebop, Neon Genesis Evangelion, or Serial Experiments Lain, but it is in some ways just as important as them, and is actually my favorite anime series of the decade.

Evangelion and Bebop are two of my favorite anime. So unique and powerful!
I still have to re-watch Ghost in the Shell in order to fully appreciate the story, but it was a very good movie.
What are your thoughts on Madoka Magica?
Also, I recommend you to watch Time of Eve which is a very thought provoking anime with a very calm and comfy setting.

Its hard to really make a list of all the great 90s anime that were made because there frankly are so many of them, most of the comments barely touches on a lot of masterpieces from the era that are highly underrated and very much unheard of in the west but are quite popular in Japan at the time.
The 2000s had a lot of good stuff too but its a great shame that less and less good anime is made mostly because of American involvement in production these days.

But the 90s was truly an era we may never see ever again, it was an era of experimentation, artistic and animation quality going to the top.
It was an era of Japanese economical magnificent but also a time of the fall of the Japanese economy, truly an interesting era also reflects in its art.
Out of all the anime I ever watched and I watched a damn shitload of it, the 90s anime are the easiest ones for me to remember because they had such an impact.

Cool list man. I will certainly watch the few I haven't yet. 90s anime will always be the best in my eyes. If you haven't already, check out Angel Cop OVAs (89 - 94), Cyber City Oedo 808, Vision of Escaflowne, Genocyber (first 3 are good), Nijna Scroll. Even the Fatal Furies are not too bad

Eva is amazing, it's the show that got me into anime. before that of course I had seen some Shonen's, like Naruto (Which to be honest I still enjoy, but the classic shit, not a lot after Pain's invasion of Konoha) and also Death Note (Which is also very good, but, meh, I don't know why it didn't get me into anime). But the show that had me watching many more anime was Eva. I'll always love it.
