Shioyaki (literally salt grilled) is a very popular and simple way to prepare fish in Japan. It's perfect for a weeknight because it takes little time. And you can really enjoy the natural flavor of the fish.
Mackerel has a unique and strong flavor that can get overpowering if old. But if you can get quality fresh mackerel, there's nothing quite like it. All you need is a bowl of rice and maybe some daikon oroshi and lemon juice!
