Seeing the sledge hammer hitting the foot reminded me about a story my father told me, when he was in his mid twenties he worked at this coal mining place (he drove the trucks) and his boss made everyone where steal toe boots and the way he'd check if my dad and his coworkers were wearing them was by taking a hammer and hitting there toes almost as hard as he could, my father was indeed wearing his steal toe boots.
