Gamers are Furious! Bring Back Old PS5 / Games Running WORSE on PRO?

Digital Foundry kicked the tyres in exacting detail across an exhaustive 25 minutes, determining that the culprit appears to be Sony's fancy new PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution (PSSR) tech. We don't think the image is supposed to have that kind of strobing inconsistency; while not immediately apparent, it's hard not to notice once you see it.

Star Wars Jedi: Survivor has struggled with performance issues since launch, so perhaps we shouldn't be surprised that issues continue to persist. Did we mention the current version of the game has already been patched for PS5 Pro?

It’s worth underlining that it’s down to individual developers to get the most out of Sony’s hardware, and not all of them are doing a good job. We’ve reported on the likes of Star Wars Jedi: Survivor and Silent Hill 2, two titles which are pretty terribly enhanced on PS5 Pro. Others showing sub-optimal results include Dragon Age: The Veilguard, Dragon’s Dogma 2, and Alan Wake 2.

“PSSR is amazing, but it is not the magic bullet that fixes all image quality problems that some games have if you just replace the previous upscaling solution with this new one,” one fan noted on Reddit. “It still needs to be properly implemented and tested. Maybe Sony should mandate that all PS5 Pro patches need to still include all modes of the standard PS5 version.”

That same person added: “I wanted to continue playing Star Wars Outlaws in the 40fps mode until I found out that Ubisoft removed all previous modes with the PS5 Pro patch. I was quite annoyed when I discovered that.”

I stopped buying games on day 1. I refuse to pay $60+ for an unfinished, partial game. Sony hates their gamer base, and if we dont make a stand, they will continue to walk all over us.

Glad I didn't buy the PS5 Pro straight after launch, seems better to wait a year till Sony irons out the bugs

I have stopped pre-ordering games and buying games at launch waiting at least three months before buying any GAME so they can actually get the patches out and get it fixed and hopefully on sale or a bit of a price drop
or deal it's an older game by then but GAME sales will drop at launch if this keeps going on

Brutally honest well done.
I’m not seeing a whole lot of improvement over the PS5, with the PS5 Pro, besides the 2gb HD.
I expected more from Sony.

I love how Diablo 4 is listed as a PS5 Pro Enhanced game, but it has STILL never gotten a Pro patch.

Shady bullshit right there. You don't announce and promote it until it actually has the thing you're claiming it has.

Pro tip, game companies rarely keep the original dev team after a game is done, so probably not the same devs, hence why patches and updates may be janky and not work right or halfassed...etc.

I noticed in entertainment; the developers get a lot of flak. Most if not all of them are just doing what they are told to do, which means it would fall on the project manager, which I suspect, is often not a developer.

I wish Console games would just give us the same Advanced image quality options the PC versions have so we could tweak games a bit, turn PSSR off and use FSR instead or whatever.

It’s to do with the SWK the game was made with. Newer PS5 games will see a substantial increase with PSSP. There is a compatibility issue with some early PS5 games, but they are working on a fix.

Playstation is just trying to get new Playstation owners to get hooked on their subscription service. Seems like everything Sony does now is motivated by profits when maybe I'm wrong but they used to be about fun.

I have the ps5 pro and I couldn't be happier. Coming straight from a ps4 there's a night and day difference, and whatever minor bugs they may have haven't really came through to me.

It's not just 2 games that are having issues with pssr. Its many. I have pro.

It’s companies not wanting to pay devs and qa to do the update so it’s just an after thought.
