Diving the MS Mikhail Lermontov in New Zealand

After diving this wreck once, I knew couldn't see it all in one trip. Not to mention didn't want to push too far into the depths too soon. So back I went to dive it again... this time pushing into the Crew Mess, Restaurant Deck and Hospital Deck. This time round we got better viz conditions in Chuckies Closet and the Duty Free Shop

That said, and didn't think we were going to escape it, very silty in these areas. Unfortunately the engine room was way too silty when we first arrived, so didn't get to fully explore it this time round, but hey, just means need to go back to explore it again

Went down that night from Wellington😮 and returned.
Took a police dive team down next day on “Martini” to stop heavy bunker oil flow from tanks. Oil was coming from tank vent.
Had a dive to check the plug had stopped flow then back to WN. No Police launch available as Lady Elizabeth was lost at Wellington Heads that year. Rod Page
