I love how visibly different Ben Solo is from Kylo Ren, even though he's in the movie for what... 10 minutes? Not even?? I love how he says "Ow" - something you would _never_ hear Kylo say. He _smiles_ - another thing Kylo _never_ does. He uses a blaster - which Kylo also never does. He can't think of a single thing to say to Rey - something Kylo never seemed to have a problem doing throughout the rest of the movies. I also love how he went from barely touching her hand in the last movie, to scooping her up and hugging her like he was never going to see her again in this one.
The Kylo-to-Ben arc is actually one of my favourite things about this trilogy, and I think Adam kicked ass at playing Kylo/Ben, and deserved all of the awards for carrying this trilogy. But I still really wish Ben didn't have to die at the end.

The sad thing is that they couldn't be together. I would have loved to see Rey and Ben start the Jedi order together.

I love the way Adam Driver/Ben treats this scene. shes dead, he doesnt kiss the corpse. Instead he holds her close until he has the idea to use his energy to save her. then when she is awake, he doesnt even react much until she touches his face. he stayed stone cold until she showed affection. and he didnt kiss her without asking (she just died, she might be a bit shaken up) but instead waited til she kissed him and then put everything he had into it, knowing it would be his first and last time. the small details make this the best scene in the whole goddamn trilogy, and I love it so much.

When Ben hugs Rey at 1:31, at first you can see how heartbroken he is, he just lost his other half, his soul mate. Around 1:39, you can see the emotions shift in his eyes. He realises in order to save Rey, he must sacrifice himself. What an incredible actor Adam is 🌟🙌🏼

The first film hinted at their connection, and his developing fascination with her. "You're my guest, " he tells her. He would never talk to another captive like that. He takes his mask off for her. He would never do that for someone else.
The second film shows he's willing to betray his mentor by saving her life. He tells her she MATTERS to him and asks her to take his hand and rule the galaxy together. When he kills Snipe, he lies and says Rey did it so that he can have the excuse of finding her to avenge the death. When she leaves him, she looks at him for a long, long time before closing the door of the ship she's leaving on, obviously wanting to make eye contact with him for as long as possible.
The last film is all about his pursuit of her, his efforts to show her the Dark powers she has, and his wish to, again, rule the galaxy with her. He literally takes a fertility necklace from her chest! He stops at nothing to find her again and again to convince her to join him. He has gone to ridiculous lengths to find her. This guy HAS to be with this girl!!

What would have made this scene better would be the following
Rey: "I love you."
Ben: "I know."

You could tell as soon as The Force Awakens came out that these two opposites had romantic tension. Throughout the entire thing Kylo chased after Rey, never having the intention of killing her, and offering her to be with him multiple times. She always seemed to want to, but never did due to remaining loyal to the resistance. She slowly brought him along with his parents Han and Leia to realizing his true self. He always seemed to love her though, and the connection by the fire in The Last Jedi was truely something. She realized there was good in him and wanted to turn him from the dark side. Which, when he brought her to Snoke and Snoke wanted her dead, he loved her so he killed Snoke and then they fought side by side. In the end, she rejected his hand and he felt angered and betrayed after that. He was enraged and so he tried so hard to destroy the remaining of the resistance at their base. And when Rey lifted the rocks and they escaped into the millennium falcon, their last glance, he still longed for her and was in shock. The next movie he was completely focused on getting to her and trying to turn her to the dark side so she could rule with him. He gave all his efforts, but then Leia finally reached out to him and it set him right when he was about to kill Rey and realized what he was doing was so wrong. Then Rey healed him after impailing him with her lightsaber, after she realized Leia was gone. She took his ship to kill Palpatine. He got a trip from the father he killed, who talked sense into him and showed him he was forgiven even after what he had done. Then he became Ben, Kylo was dead. He went after Rey knowing she would be in trouble and arrived at the perfect moment. After she had the strength from the generations of Jedi, she pushed through killing her evil grandfather. She had used all her strength and faded. After Ben got shot down into the pits from Palpatine, he climbs back up, barely making it. He struggles to his loved one, the last one he has left. He sees what happened to her, so shooken and heartbroken, he takes her into his arms and holds her. He lost everything all because of the dark side. He finally found something good from all the bad he's done; Rey. He needed her alive no matter what. Even though his whole life was devoted to destruction and he finally overcame it. He then realized how Rey was able to heal him, and he loved her so much he used his life force to bring her back, sacrificing himself. We love you Ben. Disappointing they will never truely be together. Atleast that last moment was true and indeed special, an act of love.

This trilogy had a lot of flaws, but i loved every single moment of Kylo Ren, the writing of the character was the most consistent out of all the others, and the performance by Adam Driver was stunning.

It broke my heart when Ben had to die for Rey as if she was everything for him even if Rey was mad at him, he kept his feelings for her locked away until it was opened at the brink of his death as Rey reaches out for his lips...
