Notes: In Yunnan, at the end of the Qing dynasty, Auguste François, consul, photographer and amateur ethnographer documents, thanks to a camera provided by Léon Gaumont, scenes of daily life in the streets of Yunnan-Fu (now Kunming) , but also more exceptional events: a procession, a pagoda feast, a funeral, a performance of the Chinese theater. In May 1905, the Gaumont company offered some sixty of his films, without mentioning the author's name, under the title Au pays des mandarins. The Cinémathèque française hasn't identified this film so I've invented a title for it until it can be identified.
