That’s MASSIVE!😊 Thank you for making that comparison for us visually. I have a 10’x10’ tarp and a 4x4 tarp (AKA 13.12’x13.12’) tarp. Being from the U.S.A. my mind has a tough time conceptualizing meters. I did a little ciphering and was surprised to discover how much more MASSIVE a 4 meter x 4 meter tarp is than a 10ft. X 10ft. tarp. The difference is 172.13 sq. feet for the 4x4 compared to 100sq. feet for the 10’x10’ tarp!!!! Since I like a tarp I can use in a configuration providing a floor I now have a DD 4x4 that I can’t wait to try out!

Whether a tree by tree, or a four by four - they are both pitched by trees. So, no difference! Actually, I have the 3x3 and opted out of the larger and _heavier_ 4x4 since my pack is already overweight. The extra room is significant, though. Good to actually see the contrast. Thanks.

I went for the 3.5 x 3.5 to have enough tarp to have a 2 foot ground sheet tucked back. under. mrr

As a young person we all used 3X4 tarps they seemed to work well in our rainy climate.
My wife is Filipina so I know exactly what you mean by tree x tree.

which size would you recommend for a single person hammock setup? I feel like 3x3 is good, but the added space he 4x4 gives is so good but then again (+ price and weight). Thanks again, great vid!

I need a new 3x3 but my needs now find me wanting a 4x4, maybe i should think about needs vs wants

There’s a lot of “trees” by those tarps! Thanks for this short! Everyone seems to go with a 3x3 and I was thinking I’d rather have bigger. You convinced me.

At the start I thought he was talking about tarps for trees and for his truck. Was so confused.

As the proud owner of a 4x4, I have precisely zero regrets.

I’ve been thinking a 4x4 meter tarp is probably the minimum to make sort of a cocoon shelter with doors for an Amok Draumr. Can anyone give a hand with that? The idea is essentially to stake out the middle of the tarp’s head and foot ends, and use the loose corners to make doors by folding them in (see Warbonnet superfly, or the onewind 12ft tarp).
It’s just the Amok tarps are expensive and don’t even offer side wind protection.

I think i would prefer the 3x3. The 4x4 is also lower to the ground. Not a fair comparison unless they're the same height.

I've just looked up prices for a 3x3, and they vary massively in price. What sort of price should I pay for an ok quality, for occasional use ? Thanks in advance 🙂

I think i figured it out.
When you take a city boy that pronounces three by three in the city, and you put him among trees, the brain just thinks of trees so the tHree becomes tree.
Thus, Tree by tree.
Thats ok.

Once he goes back in the city away from thr trees, he will go back to pronouncing the H, tHree by tHree.
Three yay.

Its almost 2x as big 16 square meters vs 9 square meters.

One will fit up to two average sized adults while the other could fit a small family and their dog

The tree by tree tarp extends to any TWO trees. The four by four tarp, garbage.

Its not a tree by tree meter.
Its tHree by tHree meter.
