Orcas don't have to worry about any predator, because there isn't any.

The familial bond that orcas have just blows me away. It’s not just for means of survival either…they also all genuinely care and love each other and stay together as a family unit for their entire lives. I watched a video about an Orca whose calf died and the entire familial pod helped the mother keep the calf at the ocean surface hoping the calf would eventually get better and breathe…they simply wouldn’t accept the fact that the calf was already dead. They spent days taking turns comforting the calf’s mother and trying their hardest to save the calf. They only gave up after the dead calf started to decompose.

That may not sound like a big deal, but it’s truly astonishing to see something like that. Most animals, no matter the species, will abandon a dead pack member as soon as it dies or is close to dying because they know they can’t save them, and they don’t want to waste their time and energy trying to comfort the deads loved ones. They know that they could be using that energy and time for hunting.

But not orcas. They literally grieve over the loss of a pod member. The entire pod grieves and stay with the dead orca because they truly love them.

The funny thing is that this orca also knows that he’s different from other orcas due to their high self awareness

He’ll be taken care of just like anyone else in his pod.

He will survive. The bond they share as a pod/family will ensure that he does. The only way he doesn’t survive is if he’s abandoned, and even then there’s still a chance because another pod may take him in. That’s how caring they are. It’s an amazing occurrence for an apex predator

Luckily this is one of the few animals smart enough to overcome its lack of camouflage

No animal in the world would openly challenge an entire pod of Killer Whales

Wow his family keeps him safe and helps him hunt...that's incredible!!! Just amazing..another thing I find fascinating is that some animals will ask humans for help if they cannot help themselves. I saw a deer stop traffic so that a person will help the deer baby help them out of a soccer net ...the human helped the baby was released and ran away..and they both looked back at the human as if to say thank you
