My Top 23 entries from Romania in Eurovision (1994-2022)

Here's my Top 23 of the Romanian entries in Eurovision so far.
There was a period of time where there was a lot of hype around Romania's entries. That seems to have passed with the end of their qualification streak, though at least they got redemption this year. Their entries aren't awful, but they're not my favourite country.

Liubi, Liubi, I Love You is BY FAR my favorite from them; it's one of the most slept on Eurovision entries. Such a cleverly written song and a funny and memorable performance to go with it. I think people forget about it because it was in the same year as Dancing Lasha Tumbai, which is similarly wacky and turned out to be one of the most iconic entries ever.

"Playing With Fire" is my 2nd all time favourite Eurovision song. To me, it's as close as it gets to pop perfection. The only Eurovision song that is still replayed almost daily by me.

Romania's a delight in Eurovision. They've had a fair share of less interesting misses, but for the most part, I really adore their style and at their heights, their entries are truly magnificent. Here's what I think!

1. 2007 - to me, this is the song that perfectly embodies everything that I love about Eurovision. Not only is the performance and the concept memorable, the song with its structure truly honestly is one of the best Eurovision songs ever to me.
2. 2015 - hauntingly beautiful, my first and second places of all Romanian entries get exchanged very often, as this entry honestly has emotional power that affects me on a different level, criminally underrated.
3. 2011 - it's like Romania decided to do a Danish entry, a style which I personally love a lot, so I always welcome this song with open arms.
4. 2022 - it might be recency bias, but man, it's rare to witness a situation when a previously underappreciated song comes alive in such a powerful way during the actual contest. Easily one of my most favourite performances of this year.

9. 2009 - this one recently has been starting to grow on me, I really like how laid back it is and how it doesn't necessarily try to pop out.

14. 2019 - I used to like this one more, still am a fan, just not as big one anymore, as it really isn't much more than just a well performed ballad, which is still a good thing.
15. 2003 - would be higher if it was way less repetitive, but it's a highlight for sure purely based on the creativity alone.

22. 2020 - never really understood the hype around this entry, it has some decent moments, but for the most part, the song just feels too uneventful for me.

2010 is easily where Romania peaked in my eyes. A lot of Romania's entries just manage to hit mid-field so often for me, that it's hard for me to create a list of my 10 favorites, because It'd stop at 4. Still, 2003, 2005, 2006 and 2010 are absolute gems. With WRS's recent success in Eurovision, I hope Romania can find its footing again and send greater entries in the future

2003 is a amazing, one of my favorites...2000 grew on me a ton, was my last, now it is my 4th place of that year.

My favorite though is 2005. My 7th that year. Seriously what is up with my favorite 2005 songs?
Slovenia (my winner) is my winner of all time.
Switzerland (my runner up) is in my top 10 of all time.
Croatia (my third) is my favorite balkan ballad and almost in top 10 of all time.
Songs from my 4th to 8th places (Latvia, Norway, S&M, Romania and Bulgaria) would wreck the competition in a weaker year like 2004 or 2002.
So if we judge by the number of songs I absolutely love, that is definitely my favorite year.

Top ten of Romania 🇷🇴 in Eurovision (1994-2022):
10: 2007: love the mix of languages and the performance and song is iconic. 8.5/10.
9: 2020: great song. Love its vibe. 8.5/10.
8: 2022: such a fun song that is so Spanish and incredibly catchy. 9/10.
7: 2011: so cute and happy. So catchy and love its lyrics. 9/10.
6: 2006: such a banger and amazing vocals. 9.5/10.
5: 2012: so Spanish and fun. 9.5/10.
4: 2013: crazy bug in the best way possible. 10/10.
3: 2017: iconic and unique. 10/10.
2: 2005: amazing song that is such a banger. 10/10.
1: 2010: amazing song and iconic performance. 10/10.
I like 2014 loads. I like 2003, 2015, 2019, 1994, 2021 and 1998. 2008 and 2009 are mediocre. The rest of them are bad.
Overall I like Romania 🇷🇴 at Eurovision loads. They have a lot of great entries. Although in the early days they were not the best to me nowadays they are one of the most consistent servers of quality to me in Eurovision. I always look forward to their entries now.

Very surprised how much you seem to hate Romania 2017, I love it a lot and I am very glad it succeeded as much as it did. I also think 2019 was a good song but live the song didn't live up to expectations (just me but I think she was a little pitchy and changed tone a bit). In my opinion Romania is an OK country but hasn't be so crash hot in recent years, and certainly isn't the best former Eastern Bloc country like some may think.

2006, 2010, 2014, 2019 are my favorites! I'm glad almost everyone in the community likes Tornero, it's certainly a solid 2006 song but it also ages like wine!
