Wire stringing was done wrong, wire should be over long area of cover to help hold it rather than on outside of cover only in the short length between each set of two grommets. No discussion on pool water level, or pillows, or skimmer and return plugging, ice and other winter conditions.

Why are you not draining down to under skimmer

It always annoys me when people put instructional videos (not that I don't sppreciate them) that do not fully cover the full process or are done in perfect conditions. It seems to me that an important part of the installation of the winter pool cover would be how the cover is installed in relation to the skimmer and the inlet. Does the cover go over the skimmer (cable goes above skimmer) or does it cover the skimmer (cable goes below skimmer) and similarily with the inlet. Your video doesn't even show that your pool has a skimmer or inlet. Again I appreciate the video, but please address the full details of how the cover goes on.

Funny, when ya live where we get SNOW, ya have to drain the pool to bottom of skimmer, then the damm covers never fit ! 24' pool, use a 27' pool cover. NEVER BUY A 24' POOL COVER>

Cover clips work great on this style pool, but what do you use on other styles that don't have an edge?

You don't actually show how you feed the line into the ratchet

Very basic instructions, but misses the mark on quite a few points.

This shows a new cover, but most should last at least a few years. So always try to minimize the dirt (grass clippings, leaves, etc.), that stick to the water-side of the cover. This can be minimized by folding/unfolding with the exposed side of the cover touching the ground (upside down). Then, as you pull the cover over the pool, you grab the farthest point, pulling the water-side over the water-side on to the water of the pool. Might seem confusing, but think about how you remove a table cloth after someone has spilled crumbs - it's that process in reverse.

When threading the cable, the cable should be inside when passing between the closer eyelets - this keeps more of the cable outside the cover (the more distant eyelets), so it doesn't rub against the pool (the missing paint you see around 1:40 in the video).

I realize this isn't a "winterizing" video, but it's very misleading. Regardless of your climate, the pool needs to be drained before covering for the winter - warm climates not as much, but in colder climates the water level NEEDS TO BE LOWER. Even with the Aquadoor as one commenter mentioned (and replacing the eyeball with a plumbing fitting), water level as high as shown in that video will cause problems. And yes, depending on the resulting water level, you may need a larger cover.

The clips may work, but they get brittle after a season or two and will break. Do yourself a favor and just save-up some milk-jugs - fill them with water and hang them from the cable with a foot or two of rope. This will hold down your cover, while letting it adjust for water level (above and below the cover).

I e bought 2 of these covers and they’re totally worthless installing this way. There are no clips for the rounded top pools and this cover is easily blown off when installed this way.

Instead of wind clips I go and buy the $10 or less pack of wratchet straps and re-secure fully over tarp as well as the line through. Keeps it very snug and secure. Just be sure to use a lubricant and cover the wratchet end to make it easy in the spring and make the wratchet last for years even when left on exterior

I live in Chicago with freezing temperatures in winter and snow of course. Can I use this cover? How much weight can this cover hold? Thanks

I have a 16 x 32 above ground pool with 16 ft deck to one side.
I always thread my cable before putting the cover on the pool. Leave the cable loose then pull it tight when cover is on. This is especially helpful on a windy day. Cover goes on above skimmer NOT over it.
I leave my skimmer on year round. I have a face cover plate to stop water in winter. After hoses are disconnected I cover my skimmer with a tarp tied firmly in place. I have a plug for the water return. This way I don't ever have to lower my water level.

What bothers me is I've been using the aqua door on & off over the years & I'm sure there are slow pinhole leaks that account for some of the water level dropping by spring..but I keep getting this feeling water goes through the cover, from the pool & when I drain off the snow/rain accumulation water several times before the opening I'm draining off the treated water that came through the cover as well, lowering the pool water level each time, it's march & melted & it appears to be bluish water on top of the cover..I get a new cover every other year also, with the A Door i leave the water level half up the skimmer before closing, by spring it's 4-5 inches below the skimmer every time.
