Grounded: EASY Infinite Food Trap (Updated 2025)

In this video I show you how to build an easy trap for capturing Aphids and Weevils in Grounded. This will provide an easy source of food and an easy way to tame both for pets.

I can confirm the Aphids and Weevils inside will despawn if you sleep outside of the render distance but I also discovered the same happens to the food, which was not the case in the past. This means you'll need to check to make sure it's there to capture the maximum number of Aphids and Weevils.

You don't have to build anything, just throw mushrooms chunks into the can next to the oak tree and the weevils will start spawning inside.

This tut is great. If your insects ARE NOT dropping in it’s because under the clover roof the bar wall piece is supposed to be a stem halfwall, not a stem quarter wall.

For the record, there are 3 wolf spiders that patrol past that spot at night. 2 from under the tree and one from between the roots beside the trunk

I set up one of my bases on that exact rock lol! I surrounded it with spike traps and I always had food from aphids walking into them. Honestly, 21 sounds about accurate for the amount that travel around there. From my expirience, the weevils stay further up the hill by the acorns or over by the mushrooms, and when they do travel by they stick as close to the root as possible

This is basically the same as all the other traps, we just needed to put the slurry higher up? Thsi whole time, YEARS now... it wasn't broken, just slightly adjusted? THANK YOU. Not that I need it now with the point I'm at in game but holy shit this is huge for my next load.

Just a lil tid bit of info if you cook on the spit the roasts dont burn and they also dont expire leave the 3 roasts on the spit just collect and have like 4 spits eat and replace as needed

I'm doing your classic 2x2 from years ago, doing stem half walls, clover roofs and clover square roof pieces and just dropping mushrooms and im getting BULK weevils just off your og build still. It's happening rn as I type this lol

Height of the food definitely matters, my first attempt at a farm. Resulted in me having 2 aphid pets. So anyone's curious you can have at least 2 aphids as a pet. I've only thought your allowed one.

Ive found a really good way to use this trap

Instead of using mushrooms and setting them on top of the pillar you can take one of the farm plots and grow a smaller toadstool the reason why is because the farm plots can fit inside of the pillar and smaller toadstool mushrooms can let you still use plant slurry :D

Perfect timing to see this video. I want that aphid trinket. Edit: I built it. The aphid still ate the food. lmao. Built it the exact height you did. I tried putting it up one more half wall height and they didn't know the food was there. Now I have two aphids pets from experimenting :P

If you just want to do it for food and don't mind weevil just put a mushroom tree they cant eat it and it still attracts them! But nothing you can really do for aphid except the slurry!

if you upgrade the aphid slippers to sleek, aphids will not run away from you. that and a spicy or salty weapon lets me get all the food I need. if you are mixing smoothies, use a regular or fresh weapon to get raw.

The aphids are able to eat the lure :(
Edit: They even managed to snack it away when it was four walls high. I am now restarting the file, rebuild and see if it does something. In the Multiplayer with a friend I had yesterday everything worked fine

so you should keep it close to where you sleep to prevent despawning? and do grass planks work or does it need to be weed stems
