Skip The iPhone 14 This Year: Here’s Why!

Now that we have had some time to digest everything that apple released at their event. I am having second thoughts about this iPhone 14 line up. Here are my thoughts

It absolutely won’t be anywhere near a $100/month service. It’s using incredibly limited bandwidth, and very few will ever use it. Over the next two years Apple will figure out exactly how much it will get used, and take that time to find a reasonable price. I’m guessing somewhere around $10/month or less in the end (because the cost will be averaged against all users).

i had the XS Max for four years. Just got the 14 Pro Max yesterday and love it. It's insanely faster. Noticeably better display in all regards and even the speakers seem louder and clearer. I used the phone quite a bit for 12 hrs, (some youtube, spotify, but mostly reddit and browsing) and I still had 54% Battery.
I can totally see why someone wouldn't go for this if they have a 12 or 13 Pro, but I'm glad i waited for the 14. The amazing Cameras, Dynamic Island and the 1T storage were the selling points for me and the reason i didn't go for a less expensive 13 Pro.

My angry issue with the Apple iPhone 14 Pro Max is implementing the E-Sim, which is forcing customers to use more of the expensive carriers, then the cheaper ones because a lot of cheaper carriers won't carry E-Sim. An it will be bad for traveler's.

Thanks for this review! I have an iPhone 11 Pro Max and still love it. I feel like the iPhone 13 is a better value than the iPhone 14, so I'm waiting longer to see how it rates overall. One hesitation I have is the eSim capability vs. a regular sim card. Thanks again!

Most people upgrade every 2 years because that is the minimum contract length in which case 12 to 14 is a decent upgrade and definitely worthwhile, it means you will skip the 15 and go to the 16 and so on.

Yea I have the 13 pro max and I’m more than happy with it for another year. Think I’ll be holding out for the iPhone 15 as I expect more innovation next year

Watching from Toronto on my 12 Pro Max 120g. The reasons I’m considering upgrading to the 14 pro Max are; more storage, adaptive refresh rate, and a much better battery.

One thing everyone appears to be overlooking is that the iPhone 14 and 14 Plus have the same processor as the 13 Pro Max, not the non-Pro iPhone 13. The difference is that the Pro Max has 1 extra GPU core. So, even if technically it is still the A15, it's not exactly the same as last year's non-Pro models.

I have a 13 pro max 512GB and I’m going to stay with it for another year or two. I encourage anyone with an iPhone 11 or earlier models to upgrade. Definitely worth it!

Not sure I agree because they has been pretty substantial differences in camera, and chipset support so while things taken apart don’t look very impressive but as a whole package its a decent upgrade

Since you don't physically have the iPhone 14 you are guesstimating just like you and others did before the announcement. I would have more respect if you were doing this after having used the new phone. You tell people to wait and/or skip the iPhone 14 mostly based on guesstimates.

I think that most logical people arent upgrading every year. That said, I am going from the regular 12 (my first non "Premium" model) to the Pro Max. That is a huge upgrade for me and I did miss having the biggest and best, previous to the regular 12 I had the iPhone X and it treated me very well for quite a long time.

Well you made good points, but I’ve been using my iPhone 11 Pro Max now since 2019 so I feel like it’s time to upgrade to the 14 pro or max.

I was planning on keeping my iPhone 13 Pro anyways. Besides, if the 14 is basically the same chipset as the 13, then I should get all the benefits of 14 once the new iOS 16 comes out next week.

I’m currently rocking the 13 mini, and I love it. It fits easily in my pocket, and the battery usually lasts me all day. If I need a bigger screen, I use my iPad.

I think it's not actually the same A15 found on the iphone 13's, it's the iphone 13 pro's processor that's now added to the 14 base line. Last year we had the jump in processing power within the lineup same as this year. Also they are keeping the price which means you're getting iphone 13 pro power for less money and new year specs on the phone itself. The iphone 14 plus is a great buy this year for battery life if you don't care about inovation on design, but if you do just get the pro models. It's simple as that. The prices are the same, the phones are better and if you like the new features just buy it. Again, you are not finding real world differences between this chips because they are too good already, the same way you are not going to find real world differences between iphone 12 and iphone 13, cause they are years ahead of any other chip manufacture competition. (In summary If you like the "dynamic island" lol, just buy the new phones). I say that for the people that need a new phone right now, not for the people upgrading from iphone 12 or 13. Keep and use these phones people, they're good for three or four years if you take good care. That's all, great vid otherwise 🙌

I agree in the case of base 14(could easily buy an older model) but coming from a base 11, 14 pro was an EASY Choice for me
