Показать описание
Volvo's 2.0 Liter Engines now REQUIRE; VCC RBS0-2AE.
No matter when they were manufactured.
No matter what the owners manual states.
This is not to be confused with the oil brand name that Volvo recommends which is British Petroleum's (BP) brand Castrol and specifically;
Castrol EDGE Professional V because the oil meets the requirement above.

Currently, 5W-30 and 5W-20 are the most popular grades in the motor oil market. 0W-20 is the fastest growing grade and is in position to be the most common grade recommended by auto manufacturers in the coming years.

Due to the technical advancements of automobile engines hybrid vehicles, cylinder deactivation, stop-start engines, direct injection (GDI) and turbochargers are putting different stresses on the engine and motor oil.

Thank you for the comprehensive tutorial, you didn't miss anything. Did this for the first time last year and came back here for a refresher. Last time when I took the drain plug out the stream of oil was so strong it shot right over the drain pan I had placed under it. What a mess.

Great vid! My car is a 2022 XC60 diesel. I hope the oil change on it is similar to this as your vid is so clear!

Great video that helps me to see all the steps, before I'm going to do my first Volvo 2.0T oil change. Thanks for the upload!

Suggest you pre-fill the oil filter before installing. There are videos on YouTube that explain why this is best practice.

I own a 2017 eu Volvo v40 with an 1.5 4cil petrol engine, with 290.000km on the clock and i live in Sweden. It requires 0w20 oil, that i change every 18/20.000km (roughly 11/12k miles). It doesn’t consume any oil and still runs so smoothly. I understand that people might like to change the oil at 30.000km (Volvo spec) but every 9000km/4000m, a bit too often 😅

Isn’t it advisable to oil the o rings with fresh oil when replacing the o ring seals? I think it’s to allow the ring/seal to slide and then seat without stretching or buckling in spots which could cause a leak.

Where did you purchase motor oil from?
Thx

Nice video. FCP Euro has all the oil change kits from several good brands for this car. Liqui Moly has a great VCC RBS0-2AE 0w 20 for this application. Just sold by BMW and purchased a 2020 V60. Wish me better luck than.

After my first recommended 30k service interval (car only had 18k but because of time it was strongly suggested) I tested the Castrol oil with a lab analysis and then changed the oil twice in 3k miles to really get a good amount of any sediment out no matter how small. The car runs excellent with the same oil but now my oil analysis looks perfect every 4k. That was 64k ago.

So I see 5w30 is recommended in the manual but you should use the 0w20?

What did you use to jack up the car for this? Is there any jackpoints along the centerline so that jack stands can be placed at jack points?

So what Volvo has told you is that the 5w 40 oil they told you to run from when the car was new is now no longer the right oil, , Which has now been changed to 0w 30, , So which oil is the right one, , , It can't be both because nothing about or internal in the engine has changed, , , personally I would rather by a western brand car than a Chinese one like Volvo, ,I think Chinese cars are still very much unproven, ,

Great vid David, thanks. One thing you might try in the future, run the car until its warm first as the oil becomes less viscous and flows out much better. Btw, what manufacturer is that oil filter wrench from - that's a beefy beast!!!
