Yep. Joe Blow floor pump. Best $40 that I ever spent.

I used a Topeak hand pump mounted to my cage bolts for over 15 years. Till I finally got a really nice bontrager floor pump. You’re right, I had no idea what I was missing.

He's right about the floor pump, Michelle.

A thin milled crescent or pliers wrench is pretty nice for the vintage ones to adjust the brakes.

Just to be annoying, it's not actually a Phillips head that is useful on bikes, but a JIS screwdriver. What's the difference? JIS has a dull tip, not a point, and will be a better fit in derailleur screws etc. Park market their screwdrivers as a "cross head" which is very ambiguous, probably a conscious decision on their part. My favourite home screwdriver is a Phillips that I made blunt in the bench grinder, and at work we've got a really nice Park screwdriver with an aluminium handle that fits all the worlds worst screws perfectly.

Thankfully my hording of tools over the years has proven to be quite beneficial for bike, vehicle, boat, computer and home maintenance

Building a bike right now, a good set of Allen wrenches is the biggest thing haha. Other Things that help 1000% though bearing presses and headset presses, cable routing tools. And that's about it.

Owning a floor pump is such a no brainer I didn’t think it’d be on the list lol. It does make sense though for people starting to build up tools

I need a star nut installer. Number four has to be a bike stand. I definitely agree with this three list. Check out the fitting sizes on your bikes(s) when collecting Philips head drivers. I have cheap floor pumps scattered from my apartment to the trunk of my car. Spend the money on good gauges. Better than dogs and babies for making new friends.

Those park t handles are my fav Hex keys I’ve ever used. I got a set at home and at my bench at work!

Let replace the screw driver (everyone already has that) with a good set of cable cutters.

T handle Allen keys are fantastic, a little pricey compared to $10 L shape Allen keys.

Have 2 sets of quality individual allen keys, but find myself constantly reaching over to my SuperB multitool. Have 5 different multitools but still find myself back on the SuperB multitool 😀

oh yeah, level 1 tools are allen, and pump. Level 2 would include wire cutter, crank removal tool, chain breaker, tire levers, and spoke wrench. Level 3 would include headset removal tool, headset install tool, suspension rebuild tools, complete hydraulic bleed kit, and a ratchet torque wrench.

That leaves us with level 4 which is the stuff you don't NEED, but is nice to have: truing stand, bike repair stand, chain cleaner tool, metal pick for cleaning out your drivetrain, etc.

I agree. Except that it should be just the start. Start with those 3 and add more as anyone gets deeper into the scene.
