Walking in Tokyo - Todoroki Valley & Temple - Slow TV - 4K 60 FPS

In this video, I walk in one of my all-time favourite spots in Tokyo, the Todoroki Valley (等々力渓谷) and its nearby temple Todoroki Fudoson (等々力不動尊). This is a natural ravine, the only of its kind, located in central Tokyo, only a few minutes by train from Shibuya. Despite being so close to the city centre, one can feel completely surrounded by lush nature here. As I live relatively nearby, I often come here when I feel that urban life gets too overwhelming.

In the video, I walk through the entire part of the valley, which is relatively small. This is the first video from Tokyo that I've shot this year. I hope to be able to get back to shooting and walking again soon, once everything is back to normal in the world again!

The nearest station is Todoroki on the Oimachi Line.

Shot in May 2020

My other special sanctuary place away from the 'Ant Hill'. Gets me high every time- levels my head and eases my spirit. Thanks for a magical 4K- I run Joshinji and this one often. Oh, to be back! That ear blasting leaf blower just as you approach the tranquil zen really accentuates the need for such places...

Thank you for this video. You know, I'm speaking to you from Brazil and I'm a teacher (I teach geography to middle school classes). Because of the Covid-19 pandemic, all classes are being held remotely and in this past week I've asked my students to write an essay in which they should examine the landscape that they can see or listen or smell in the way between their homes and the school building. Many of my students are from different cities and came to the school by bus. And a great many of them, more than I would like, in fact, told me that "there's nothing to talk about; all I can see is vegetation". I got really sad and tried to explain to them that in many cultures forests are reveared -- even here, in Brazil, ours traditional peoples have a deep and unique understanding of the biomes in which they live. I told them that we forgot that knowledge and ende up seing vegetation as "empty space". So, this video warms my heart. In the biggest city of the world, this level of care and respect with nature, with water and plants, with the sounds of birds and animals... That makes me happy and makes me wish for a day when, here in Brazil, we learn to be more at peace with all that. So, thank you. I'm sorry if this is badly writen. Please continue with the videos. :)

Nice to see that city life is still vibrant in Tokyo even though COVID is making life hard in many places in the world. And the park is very nice:)

I have booked a 16 day trip to Tokyo this summer for the Olympics and I might still go, if the airline does not allow me to cancel my flight for free.

At the moment I as a German am not even allowed to enter Japan, but I hope that will change in the next three months. For me it will be important to visit all those nice observation decks. No city in the world had more observation decks than Tokyo I think and if they are closed this year, I would have to visit them all in the few days next year, when I come back to Tokyo for the Olympics.

Perhaps the best for me would be that the flight in August is cancelled, I get back all my money and can spend much more time in Tokyo next year instead.
