It all started with that one great big idea. Creating that money app that can make you a gazillion dollars. After 2 years of hard work and sleepless nights you reach that much coveted 1,000,000 users. As the business grows you expand to Asia and the Middle East. But on the fourth year the company’s growth starts to plateau. On top of that you start doing a lot of firefighting. Key employees are threatening to resign. While the investors are losing their patience. The government regulators are claiming you need a banking license to operate. You need to take control of the situation. What do you do? Where do you start? While on a business to Singapore, while waiting for his flight in the airport he kills time by going through a bookstore and he stumbles upon this book that he thinks can help his current situation.
Getting Results the Agile Way. J.D Meier shares his learning from years of working for Microsoft. One of the great takeaways from this book was the concept of Rule of 3. Identify 3 relevant outcomes you want to achieve for the day. Obviously, you may have more than 3 things to be done. But by following the rule of 3 you can discipline yourself to prioritize. The key is to focus on outcomes not activities. Be specific, don’t just say I will work on my book, rather it’s should be something like I will write at least one page. You can take this habit to weekly, monthly, yearly each supporting the other level.
Focus on health, wealth, relationships. These 3 are considered the pillars of a person’s wellbeing. By achieving good health, sufficient wealth, and meaningful relationships, you lay the foundation for having an interesting and fulfilling life. You can do exciting things and achieve far more.
Health
The importance of health in our lives is profound. Without having good health sets limits on what you can do. Most of us have a basic understanding of what health is, especially when it comes to taking care of ourselves.
Wealth
Most people understand the significance of wealth to one's well-being. The conventional wisdom holds that having a relatively high salary will give a good standard of living. The relationship between income and happiness is more complicated. After all, there are many people who appear to be doing extremely well in life, while having relatively modest incomes. At the same time, many wealthy people appear to be plagued with anxiety and tension.

Relationships
Relationships provide a way to fulfill psychological and emotional needs. It helps build social networks that allow people to identify others who have similar interests and goals. It also helps build a strong sense of belongingness. The need to belong is one of the most basic human needs.
Applying the rule of 3 to those things that matter in our lives can give us a clear picture of where we are and what we need to do.
