Thank you for sharing your knowledge Chad. It made approaching those apps a lot less daunting. Great video and overview of features.

really happy nomad sculpt got a shoutout, started using it because of the price and fell in love with its simplicity while being crazy powerful, especially on an ipad with pencils it’s the absolute best and plenty for my needs as an indie gamedev

It's amazing what's possible to 3d render or cad these days and on the devices. If only these programs and hardware were around in college when I was doing design work. Amazing. Great video and tutorial. Especially Nomad. I'm blown away.

This is such a great and accessible video for those getting started with 3D modelling! I myself use Nomad a lot but still struggle with Z-Brush's interface so this was useful for me becoming more comfortable with Z-Brush.

Gotta second a recommendation for Nomad as well. It is so accessible for anyone who's brand new to 3D modelling. I use it on my iPad with an Apple Pencil and it really is just so easy and intuitive to use. I've made prosthetic horns in it, using a 3D scan of my head which I was also able to load into Nomad. I even modelled a whole suit of armour in Nomad, though I had to break it up into a lot of individual files (Nomad's main issue really is how much memory it can handle before it crashes). As well as making a ton of other things, everything from organic sculpts to hard surface.

I've now started creating my base models in Nomad and then transferring them over to Z-Brush for adding more detail.

And btw if you're a student then you can get a Z-Brush subscription extremely cheaply! I got a one year's subscription for £20 just before I graduated from my Masters lolll

There's a free Zbrush Core Mini now as well.

Love it! I STILL have to learn basic modeling... been meaning to do your course, Bill. Failure with the printers this past year or so have put all that on the back burner though.

Thanks for making an old, cashstrapped, 3D digital modeling virgin feel right out of the loop. Nah, I'm happy stumbling along with all the old methods that I use happily and comfortably - but WOW have you got a box of trains at your finger-tips. Now, excuse me, I've heard of a new sculpting medium called 'papier-mache' i'm off to explore!!!

One thing i didn't hear you address is that your head scan (or brother's, to be more accurate) isn't centered in such a way that the horns mirror to the same point on the other side of the head. How do you correct that?

I’m printing the Boolean Gemini 3d print and in the files on your website, one of the acrylic pieces for the receiver and the bolt is missing. Could those be added back?

Enjoyed the video and like to see how to use these digital tools, but I rarely get to use digital tools, so I didn’t understand 99% of anything he was doing.
Guess I need a very basic intro to this stuff, lol.

Short answer: Anything you want :))
As a 3d artist myself, doing your own props is fulfilling as fek.

What would be a good and relatively cheap tablet to use for nomad sculpt?
